Vegetarians Avoid – Disgraceful Service and Zero Accountability

After three years of being a loyal customer, I’ve never been treated with such disrespect. Ordered vegetarian food and was given MEAT. Drove all the way to collect it, only to be told they wouldn’t remake or deliver the correct order - even though they offer delivery.

One person’s food is now cold, the other’s is completely inedible. Spoke to the so-called manager who refused to give their name and had a sassy, dismissive attitude. Absolutely no apology, no ownership, no attempt to fix their mistake.

This place clearly doesn’t care about dietary needs, customer service, or keeping loyal customers. Avoid at all costs. You won’t see another penny from me.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. For clarity, it was not just one meal prepared incorrectly, but both — something you could easily verify from your ticketing system.

It is unfortunate that you believe asking for a correctly prepared vegetarian meal to be delivered, using a service you already offer, was an unreasonable request. I would have expected more from a business that claims to “live and breathe” customer care.

Going forward, I would suggest that vegetarian customers carefully inspect their meals before leaving, as it appears no robust processes are in place to prevent these errors.

Your response, heavy on defensiveness and light on accountability, speaks louder than any apology you could have given. Based on other reviews, this seems far from an isolated incident.

Absolutely wonderful food but the take away experience is painful, it's literally impossible to order from you.

Been frustrated a number of times when ordering, either things are late, don't get made or it's impossible to order in the first place. I understand that you are busy and that's great but your just-eat the order delivery radius is set to zero so you can't order from Hitchin, the phone number has been removed from the website and the new ordering system for collection from Stevenage just doesn't work. It's been about an hour of messing around trying to order only to find it's just not possible. Would be better just to turn the website off and have dining in restaurant only.

Disappointed we couldn't collect from Hitchin via just-eat we called the restaurant, but couldn't pick up from there either. Shame because it's so close. No problem, went to make the order with Stevenage via the Cantina Carnitas website. It would be a 30 mins drive there and back, but not so bad as it's good food. We go through the process and the order hung in the 'waiting for restaurant to accept' phase, only to be completely denied because two items were not in stock.

Tearing my hair out by this point, it's certainly in the first world problem category and I might be sounding like a monumental Karen here but it's a nightmare to order take out from you guys. I've eaten in with you and ordered take out lots since you opened in Hitchin, but that's the last straw, I'm sure I'm not the only one who...

After having previously reviewed this restaurant for takeaways positively, I am now disappointed that I have to leave a bad review. I have never ever left a restaurant without tipping in my life but last night I felt I had to. We regularly get cantina carnitas for dinner as a takeaway and yesterday we thought we would eat in for my boyfriend’s birthday as a special occasion. We were seated by front door and I asked if we could change this and was told “there are others coming” by the waitress. This meant that every time the door opened we were in the way and had people barging past us. I understand it’s a small restaurant so it was what it was. The waitresses were not friendly and when our food finally arrived after 40 mins of waiting (and a large table getting their food before us) the waitress pretty much dumped it on the table whilst facing away from us without saying anything. Our drinks were also finished and had been for 10 mins and when the food was bought there was no time for us to ask for more drinks as the waitress dumped it on the table and left. We finished our food and still no one came over, and instead of getting another drink we went home and made our own margheritas.
