Visited cawburger on a late Sunday evening as a family of 4. We travelled from Portsmouth as staying locally and use reviews to eat out in new areas. We ordered the special as a double patty, kids beef burger meal, BBQ Chicken and BBQ beef burgers both as Gluten free, cherry cola chicken tenders, Kiev fries, strawberry milkshake, can coke zero and 2x fruitshoots. Quality of food is very very good. Milkshake was banging! GF options brilliant. The chicken tenders were actually sold out but happily replaced as a chicken burger with the cherry cola sauce on top which we found very tasty. Personally the BBQ sauce was quite overpowering especially on the beef patty i was unable to taste the meat (maybe better If it was a double). Kids meal looked perfect. Kiev fries were very nice could have been a little hotter in temperature but still very tasty. Special burger was where my main issue was. I do understand the very nice quality ingredients used in a very nice brioche roll however i couldn't pick it up due to the puddle of beef fat in the box which some of it was soaked up by the bottom bun to the point I couldn't actually hold it. We did raise this issue with staff and who I believe was the manager/owner came to explain it is all cooked on a dry grill its the fat content in the beef itself. He instantly offered to refire a new one which as everyone else was nearly finished it wasn't visable but explained why the issue arose. If this issue could be resolved somehow then this could have definitely been one of the best burgers. Upon leaving, the manager/owner had refunded the special burger as an apology which was greatly appreciated. You don't get that service anywhere.
Overall, service was excellent. Quality of produce excellent. Cost of soft drinks were a little pricy but overall bill for what we ordered was expected as we did our research beforehand. Will return and try again another day. Wish this company all the best with...
Read moreIf you'd told me this morning that I would spend over 50 quid on burger and chips for two, I would have called you an idiot. But that was before I went to Cawsburger. Prices for everywhere are higher at the moment but this does seem on the higher end. £8 for two 300ml "homemade" lemonade slushies that were very acidic, sour and bitter, but more on them later. The food arrived, and the Korean gochujang nuggets were our "starter". They were £6 for 5. But they were delicious. Absolutely coated in sauce, coriander and red chillies. When eaten with the gherkin accompaniment, they became very moorish. The loaded fries we had were the let down of the whole meal. The fries themselves were super crisp and tasty, with a nuttiness that enhanced them. But for loaded fries that were nearly double the price of just the skin on fries, it was just a squirt of mayo and some bacon flavoured bits on for the wife and burger sauce and a mashed up gherkin for me. For that price, I'd expect maybe a homemade mayo, real bacon lardons and a more bespoke burger sauce. These fries were still nice but just not the best part of the meal. The burgers though, more than made up for it. We "doubled up" for £2.50 each. I can genuinely say that they were the best burgers we have ever eaten. Soft buns, juicy burgers that had a genuinely tasty and crispy crust, and flavoursome toppings and cheese. Soaked in the juices in the box, they were messy but hugely enjoyable. I could have eaten another one, but I was surprisingly very full. After all that greasy, carby goodness the slushy cut right through it and provided the perfect pallette cleanser, the citrus sharpness providing a freshness that was needed. I sincerely wish I could award 5 stars, but the slightly high price, the average effort on the loaded fries and the small size of the beverage drag it down to 4 stars. But again, the burger is the star of the show here, and what...
Read moreWe don't usually go out for fast food as I do a pretty mean burger with dirty onions and my daddy fried chicken is banging if I do say so myself. However the Mrs won £100 from social media to spend so we popped in on a Wednesday evening. 1 x Veggie adult 1 x Gluten free adult and 1 x "normal" 9 year old. Service was great, the two people serving were very helpful and super nice. All our dietary requirements were more than catered for and the menu was explained in detail. We had gluten free double caws burger, veg caws burger, hot honey crisp chicken burger, Parmesan and truffle fries, cajun fries and cawboy fries, gluten free buffalo tenders, plus two strawberry milkshakes, and a water. food came out in a timely manner given it's all fresh. Everything was really tasty, the smashed burgers had a decent crust and were lovely, honey chicken was huge with decent coating, gluten free tenders were crispy on the outside and juicy in the middle. Truffle and Parmesan chips were stand out. Everything would have come to just over £70.00 my old man head says that seems a lot but looking at the other burger places around it's competitive, and for us it was free anyway! Two suggestions 1) All gluten free rolls and poo full stop, I've not found one yet unless homemade that's any good. Maybe have a look at the Tesco gluten free tiger bread cut thick and toasted to replace as a sandwich style burger, I've started doing that at home and it works. 2) Get an auto close thing on the door as people in Hitchin seem to be born in a barn. Lovely dinner, well done Caws team...I may well be back on my own to snaffle the...
