Ah, Hitchin Coffee Lab - where the coffee is smooth, the food is spot on, and the parking is a test of nerves worthy of an F1 driver. If you’re rolling up in a Chelsea tractor, best of luck squeezing through that blink-and-you’ll-miss-it side tunnel. It’s the kind of entrance that makes you question both your driving skills and your life choices. But hey, countryside girls need their caffeine, right?

Once inside, the vibe is effortlessly cool, the staff are friendly, and the coffee is worth every sip. The only real challenge? The seats. Let’s just say they aren’t designed for long-haul lounging. Great if you’re here for a quick caffeine fix, less great if you’ve accidentally fallen into an extended date that’s going really well. Before you know it, hours have passed, you’ve lost all feeling in your backside, and you’re debating whether to order another flat white just to justify your continued occupation of the table.

Used to come here all the time and had a wonderful experience with the staff there, however came again today and was met with the rudest frizzy blonde haired girl with no sense of customer service at all. I ordered an iced oat chai latte and a few other things and was given a hot chai latte, I politely told her I ordered it iced and asked if I could get it put in a cup with ice, she then rudely replies “girl that’s going to cost more, you never asked for iced otherwise i would have made it iced” and goes on to shut down, dismiss and interrupt anything I said. As someone who works in hospitality I would never even imagine talking to a customer in this way and was shocked being treated like that. Really disappointed, I just had to leave here after I was told that weekends are a laptop free zone in the coffee shop. I have always loved coming to this coffee shop and it's one of my favourites in Hitchin. So I have really been disappointed today I came here to have some alone work time as I do not just work just Monday to Friday. I don't think it should matter if I have my laptop with me or not as I have still made a purchase and was planning on treating myself to a cake once I had finished my work.
