Lovely looking place to sit and watch the world go by. Just a shame the food and service let it down so much. We arrived for lunch on a Sunday (22/12/19) and had to order a breakfast as the lunch menu was not being served till 1315 with no explanation as to why. This was not a problem but not what you expect after 12. We ordered drinks 2 orange juice and a cappuccino. The juice was served warm and no option of having any ice. About 5 minutes later a second server brought the cappuccino and a 2nd lot of Orange juice with ice. The server had not realized we had already got our orange juice and I witnessed them put the lids back on and place them back in the fridge even though the lids had a popper for freshness. The only thing about the breakfast that was nice were the eggs and sausages. Bacon was far too salty and boiled, black pudding dry, beans hard and overcooked, hash browns deep fried and oily the toast was served half way though and was hard dry and burnt. This was compounded by the staff being distracted with conversations with customers that were friends. Having to ask more than once for Items, asked for ketchup and when we had to ask again was told that the server had told someone else to bring it over. I used to be a silver service waiter and when a customer asks for something you get it not pass the buck. Also don't wear anything nice I am all for dog friendly but allowing dogs to sit on the furniture when people pay for nice clothes is not on. The last thing anyone wants is to be covered in dog hair when going out for a drink or meal. Witnessed servers petting dogs then going behind the bar and serving drinks/meals without washing hands Again I will say that you have a lovely establishment and will visit again for drinks but...

The venue itself is tastefully decorated and looks great. However, the service, waiting time and overall quality of the food and drinks let down the experience a lot. Having worked in hospitality for a long time, I understand that when a venue is busy you might have to wait longer, however staff should make customers aware of this immediately. It might be a good idea for orders to be taken at the bar, rather than at tables here. We were given a table but I had to repeatedly go to the bar to try to get anyone's attention. I kept being told they would come to me which was a bit frustrating. This went on for a good 20 minutes. It took another 20 for 2 drinks to be brought to us. They came and told us our food order had been 'lost' so needed to check and put it through again, which was only fries and chicken strips. After an hour of being there, our food finally arrived and was okay. The chicken was a very small portion. The most frustrating part of this kind of experience though, is the lack of communication from staff. Had we known it was going to take such a long time, we would have gone elsewhere or would have at least been aware of any delays with...

Visited quite a few times over the last two years and something always goes wrong, and we leave feeling disappointed. Really frosty, unwelcoming staff, you'll be lucky to get a smile. Food is so inconsistent. This is a major issue. Menu is often wrong. Service is bad, worse when it needs correcting; Recently ordered the steak tacos which stated salsa picante, was served dry tacos with no salsa, asked for this to be rectified, received a tiny pot of their take on salsa Verde- not picante - which was oily and tasted awful. By this point we'd run out of time to stay, so I ended up eating part my husbands order, and we both left hungry. Communication is so poor. After 10 minutes of drink ordering/browsing menu, we asked to order food just to be told the kitchen was closed! Why waste our time and just tell that to customers when they arrive? It was lunchtime. Food quite frankly is not worth the price point they have it set at. Belly pork with "apple reduction " is akin to baby food - where did belly pork and blue cheese sauce go? It was one of the only decent things on...

We had breakfast here and enjoyed the food. I had the "Hash bowl" which was hash potatoes served with chorizo and halloumi, red onion, spinach, poached egg & hollandaise sauce. And it was really really good. Big portion with perfectly cooked small pieces of potato, loads of chorizo and loads of perfectly cooked halloumi. Very filling and a great start to the day. My wife got the bacon sandwich on granary bread. Good amount of well cooked bacon, but a shame that the bread was just standard sliced bread (so many bakeries in the area so they could have got some better quality bread) Overall a lovely breakfast and we would visit again for more food.

I had heard up and down things about experiences here. Been a few times a while back and was always decent. Stopped in for late lunch and the food was fantastic. Friend had a pork belly with braised leeks in a cream sauce and it was one of the nicest, but richest, sauces I've ever tasted. My only recommendation to them would actually be less of it because we could barely manage it between 3 of us it was that rich. I, and my other friend, had the steak platter which was excellent. The extra prawns I added on were juicy and succulent. Overall very impressed and will definitely be back.

Wow, they now have Almesty beer for sale. It's 5%, so a pint is good to go. Friendly staff. Good food served all day. Table reservations are a must to phone ahead. Decor is good and very 'funky.' Two sets of toilets on either side of the main bar. The seating is varied style. Stools are the seating at the four large plate glass windows. Wheelchair access from the street entrance and there are an adequate number of tables throughout the three separate seating areas access through a wide open doorway. Certainly the best and most popular bar serving food on Park View, Whitley Bay.
