Signature Lounge — Restaurant in North Tyneside

Really can't recommend. The drinks are average but are considerably more expensive than surrounding bars and the service is truly abysmal. The last time I went, I was told I could sit upstairs - after 10 minutes, I had to go find someone as no one had come to take our order. I was told someone would come to the table as you can't order at the bar - another 5 minutes later someone came. 20 minutes after that, another server walking past and noticed that we still didn't have our drinks - to be fair, a couple of minutes after that we finally got drinks (so that last person was at least quick). It seems to be closed a lot in the evening when it's supposed to be open (perhaps closing early because it's quiet during the week?). It's a confused venue with the wrong people, delivering a substandard service that feels like it's punching above its weight by charging a premium price in an effort to convince people as to its exclusivity. After a few visits to signature in Whitley bay we decided to go back for a coffee and scones at the time it was really quiet inside. we had waited over 10 minutes for someone to arrive at our table and take our order 2 flat white coffees and 2 scones when we got our coffees and small jars of jam and Cream we expected our waitress to come straight back with the scones but 15/20 minutes later after we had finished our coffee we decided to go to the counter and complain about the service both of the restaurant employees said they would go to the kitchen and find out what happened to my scones we waited for a good few minutes before the young lady came back with no apology what so ever for our order and proceeded to the till to charge me for coffee and scones and then released we didn’t get the scones and eventually we paid reluctantly for the coffee. Went to the Signature Lounge on a Friday evening for a girls (well slightly mature ladies!!) night out. There were 7 of us and we all enjoyed the food we had chosen to eat which was tasty and perfectly cooked. We found the staff friendly, attentive and very patient when it came to paying our bill at the end of the evening as we all wanted to pay separately! There was a solo guitarist playing that evening and the music was pleasant and at a level that still allowed us to talk! I would like to congratulate Signature on realising there is a HUGE difference between sweet and dry cider as so many places only sell the sweet flavoured ciders which are no good for us dry drinkers!
