Great food, great atmosphere, great communication.
When we arrived at about 9:30am it was already super busy, so I'd recommend booking. We were told about the wait, what our options were and decided to sit at the bar and eat there.
There are a couple of vegan and vegetarian options and I had the avocado toast whilst my partner had the French toast. It's one of the best avocado toast I've had, I also asked for some crispy fried smoked tofu from the additional options section, which was also very tasty.
The portions were huge, don't eat before you go if you're heading for breakfast and the coffee was tasty and strong. There were a wide range of vegan and ordinary cakes too.
Parking was on the street outside and free for one hour. Disabled access would be possible but it's a bit tight. If you're going with a wheelchair user or pram, I'd book.
The atmosphere was great with people looking like they really enjoyed working there. One of the team was harmonising with the songs playing (great voice by the way) and in the women's bathroom there were free sanitary products, reed diffusers and candles that matched the scent at the front of the store.
It's not cheap with the portion sizes, the quality of the food (excellent), the atmosphere and the feeling of the place, it's well worth it. Great plates too. My only hope is that every dish is done as well as the ones we had, so that you don't go off my review and end up...
Read moreMy wife had a vegan xmas dinner as no meat ones were left but when she got it either vegan meat has come on over the years or it was meat, either way she gave it 9/10 and would defo buy again. I myself had a Ruben, they go all out frying the bread in butter (any chef would be impressed) so if you have a bad heart think again. The beef was beautifully soft, it could've done with sauerkraut spread all over but it was mainly on 1 half as it was screaming for the acidity to cut through all the buttery fat soaked bread. I thought I had a pile of sauerkraut on the side but it was a teaspoonful on top of some lettuce. Ruben would have been worth 4.50 but 7 quid plus I dont think. Coffees I had a oat milk mocha and they'd clearly used a dark chocolate powder rather than just cheap sugary stuff, unfortunately it felt like it hadn't blended with the milk properly so I struggled to taste the coffee element of a good mocha. My wife had a gingerbread coffee which she loved. Tried a choc orange cuffin made elsewhere had me intrigued how do you laminate a muffin like a croissant?? but wish I hadn't top was burnt and dry, covered in a bag of caster sugar and when we ate it all it was is a croissant laminated into the shape of a muffin with a smear of chocolate running through 30p to make 100 times more to buy, won't try that again. Would go and try other stuff as it was nice it just didnt wow n wouldnt get...
Read moreThe best brunch spot in Whitley Bay. I am a regular visitor as the service is always great and food is amazing. The menu changes seasonally to offer the best in season produce whilst the classics remain on the menu. The atmosphere is very welcoming and inclusive; I have been as a couple, with friends, with my daughter and alone and always received the same warm welcome. The staff are very accommodating to high chairs/ prams and wheelchair users. K&K is a breastfeeding friendly environment and also has an offering of feminine hygiene products in the bathroom which shows the thought behind the business of offering a welcoming space to all.
Kith and Kin is home to the best cappuccino in my opinion, topped with real chocolate. I always opt for the French toast, choosing the special French toast on my last visit which was cereal milk and it was absolutely gorgeous (around £20 for the French toast and 2 cappuccinos). Other top contenders for me are the loaded hash browns, steak sarnie and the classic bacon sandwich which is jam packed with crispy bacon. The staff are great with allergens and the menu has vegan and veggie options.
Always recommend booking in advance if attending on a weekend to avoid disappointment but K&K is always a recommendation of mine to anyone after a superb...
