I stayed her with my family for a night. The restaurant part was great. The rooms however, weren't so great. For starters when we arrived, before we even settled in, the strike plate of the door lock came out of the wall after my brother opened the door. It came out so easily becasue it was only secured into the wall with 1 screw, instead of 2. The smoke detector in our room was also hanging off the ceiling and wasn't screwed in properly. The bathroom wasn't very good either. The bathroom door doesn't have a lock on it. There's also no toilet roll holder in the bathroom either, but because the bathroom itself is so small, the sink is positioned right infront of the toilet and makes it very hard to sit on the toilet. Also, there's no shower mat in the shower and I almost slipped up a couple of times

Terrible Hygiene. Went into the disabled toliet to use baby changer and couldn't put the bag on the floor as someone had urinated everywhere. When the women brought us a highchair it was so disgustingly dirty we decided not to eat there but had already ordered drinks. My mam had ordered a Tonic water and that is what arrived (see photo) not even half full and no ice 🙈. Also advertised children play area around the back which was non existent. Won't be going back

Firstly can I say I did post this not long after xmas but it disappeared for some reason so here it is.

This a local pub which I didn't use regularly but mostly on occasions. Fireworks night probably broke every health and safety rule in the book with a couple of random men in a van in the carpark setting them off in all directions. Then the burgers they had on offer were half cooked. I've been for two years running for their display but will be going to a safer one this year.

I've been in to find staff so drunk they couldnt speak, kept bumping into the till and smashed glasses. I did however still give them my custom.

I booked up for xmas dinner for me, my mam, and my daughter. It was £50 each for me and my mam and £20 or £30 for my daughter. My mam is disabled so nearer the time I messaged to ask what the disabled access was. I know there is a very steep bank that cars have to drive up to get to the carpark and the other access is steep steps so I thought maybe there was a side entrance. The message said it had been read but I received no reply. I messaged again on another day and the same thing happened, the message had been read but I got no reply. Surely if they had time to read the messages they had time for a quick reply, but nothing! It was getting close to xmas day and I needed to know how I was going to get my mam in there in her wheelchair so I messaged yet again asking why the messages were being read but not replied. All I got back was 'the steep bank.' I couldnt believe it was like getting blood out of a stone and then just that reply! She obviously didn't reply because they dont have adequate disabled access! THAT IS NOT THE CUSTOMERS FAULT! Instead of being unprofessional they should of explained they have no disabled access but offer some help getting my mam in, especially when we are paying £130 on two adult and one child dinner, not to mention the drinks.

Instead of a nice crisp walk xmas day pushing my mam to the local, we had to get a taxi which are charging triple tariff on xmas day only a few hundred yards down the road and help my mam in and out of the car and in and out of the pub with my own mobility problems. Absolutely spoilt what we had been looking forward to.

The meal was nowhere near worth the price they charged, most of it was left. I didn't say anything on the day because I didn't want to spoil it anymore for my mam.

After xmas I seen the manageress in our local supermarket and she asked if I was ok. I took this opportunity to express my sheer disappointment at her lack of communication over the disabled access and she immediately went on the defensive and snarled aggressively 'you should of uses the phone and rang!' I was mortified at her tone. I explained that she read my messages and chose to ignore them and she just put her hand up to my face and walked of saying 'I'm not listening to this!'

Although after this I chose never to go back there again, I later found out I was barred anyway. I was barred for her lack of communication and her having no disabled access. I also found out that I'm not the only local she has upset, theres a few.

I gave her my service when her pub had a 1 star rating for health and hygiene and was being investigated yet this is how she treat me just because she has no disabled access at her pub. The level of professionalism astounds me!

This review will also go on trust pilot. However, if you read the reviews on there, any negative ones her reply is very childish and sarcastic so I'm expecting the same from this. At least I know the truth and as for the 1 star rating that's documented when it happened anybody can google it.

I would not recommend this bar, theres a much nicer one...

Such a lovely place to stay. Was only looking for something cheap as i was only staying for one night, however would’ve loved to stay for longer! The staff were so friendly when I first came in, they got my reg so I didn’t need to pay for a fine and also helped me bring my luggage up the stairs. The room was clean and tidy and wasn’t too hot or cold. There’s a tv and a selection of teas and coffees! I went down for some food, after looking at the menu I couldn’t decide what to eat!! Everything sounded so delicious, it ended up tasting delicious too. I got the cheesy garlic mushrooms as a starter which took around 5 minutes to come, a ribeye steak (cooked exactly how I like it) and a warm chocolate fudge cake with ice cream. Both the food and drinks were at a very reasonable price and received more than what I expected. Staff were constantly checking up on me to see if everything was okay and could also have a good joke around with them. Since it was a Saturday i was told there was a singer from 8:30pm so I decided to see how they were. Overall a great singer with lovely customers surrounding them. In the morning I went down for some breakfast, yet again staff were very friendly, there’s a selection of breakfasts which are a very decent price. Everything was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately I was staying for business reasons therefore I’m not local and won’t get to visit here as much as I’d like. I totally recommend the holystone bar and restaurant to anyone who wishes to have an enjoyable stay. Big Thankyou to all of the staff, such lovely people who made my stay...
