It's your typical Witherspoon's. However a big gripe would be on a Saturday night the service at the bar is very poor. Slow and no urgency. ....staff look fed up. ......act as if they don't give a stuff. The manager who ever he or she is needs to instruct staff how to work a bar..... it's no good just serving the first person they look at. Last time I was in there ....got fed up with waiting and walked out. Update 30th September 2020. Went there today....new social distancing has come in..... Table service only. Must use Witherspoon app. Must fill in contact and trace. On arrival we were told to fill in contact and trace form....which we did. Took a seat outside tried using app. Absolutely hopeless.....took for ever to load up... when it finally did kept crashing! In the meantime my wife got up asked a member of staff if they could take our order at the table.... they said they would. Sat for 20 minutes....nobody came. During that time kept trying the app....eventually got logged on....but then had to do another contact and trace form and then IT CRASHED AGAIN!!!! We eventually gave up and went up to the White Hart where we were warmly greeted..seated and served...with no issues whatsoever. Well done The White...
Read moreCalled in for a drink whilst visiting Ashby with my wife. Sat down in the beer garden as we had the dog with us. We sat at a table with an umbrella as it was spitting with rain. I went in to get the drinks and went back out to the garden. Within 2 minutes one of the staff rushed upto my wife with no thought for social distancing. She said that we were not allowed to bring the dog into the beer garden. We asked for a refund on the drinks which was offered with no problem. I went in to get the refund and had to wait a couple of minutes for the manager to authorise. He said that because it was very quiet we could have our drinks then leave. We were happy with that so I took the drinks back outside to finish. Before I had sat down the manager asked us to go and sit in another part of the garden out of the way. We sat in the original seats as there was an umbrella and was spitting with rain. . To this we asked for the refund and left. I said to the manager that there were no signs regarding dogs, he said they had been torn down. If I had known it was a wetherspoons I wouldn't have gone in. Maybe customer service wouldn't go amiss. Typical of a Wetherspoons attitude. Definitely wont return and wouldn't recommend. Cheap &...
Read moreWorst spoons I've been to, and I've been to absolutely loads across the country. I tend to gravitate to Spoons for breakfast/brunch most weekends since moving to the area as I have a toddler so like to know what to expect.
Shoulder of Mutton is my closest (so unfortunately go often), every time I go there's something wrong. Clearly never have enough staff on. Empty Tables 90% of the time are full of dirty plates (no exaggeration, I've been about 8/9 times and 7/8 of the time I've had to move crockery to another empty table with dirty crockery already on. Photo as an example).
Coffee machines tend to have a massive queue, not helped by them generally needing a milk top up (Any chance of getting some more?)
Today the food took 40 minutes. OK it's father's day, 40 minutes though! Theres a bald bloke that works, and he (at least behaves as if he) is massively overworked. I understand why he's running about like a blue arsed fly chucking plates on to the table.
Spoons if you're reading this, employ 25% more staff so:
Tables are cleared and cleaned Food and drinks are delivered within around 15 minutes
Bonus: The coffee machine is topped up with milk
It all feels like amateur hour which I never ever see at any other...
