Cafolla's — Restaurant in Northern Ireland

Firstly I'd alway loved caffolas from I was a little girl, right through to teen and adult years. I used to come here every Monday with my gran, my mum and my aunt Liz. So it both equally shocks and saddens me to post this review. I was here with my good friend and my two youngest children, we had ordered, kids sausage and chips, a portion of chips and baked potato and a sweet chilli chicken panini along with drinks. All seemed ok until my baked potato with cheese and beans arrived, the skin of the potato was black, I just thought that the skin was charred, on eating it, I found the potato to be burnt tasting, so I took it up to the counter and asked for it to be exchanged, (not to the usual standard, the replacement wasn't much better, hard and very dry!) my friend had asked for the sweet chilli chicken panini which had no sweet chilli in, my son's chips (with his sausage and chips ) were hard and that dry that he couldn't eat them. Staff were unreal! Lot of younger girls working and this was at like peak afternoon time on a Saturday in the summer and they were all clearly really busy, but never once failed to be kind! Same goes for the (owner or manager I think?), I was visiting with my nana and Im Scottish and she took the time to ask me where exactly I was from etc and tell my nana about the history of the place and the family because she used to go when she was a teenager! The woman was so lovely everyone always had a smile on their face. We never really got speaking to Elliot but he was really patient as we were still deciding when we went up and he was also very kind and polite. We tried as had heard great things and did not disappoint. Very busy but staff still accommodating. We're seated at a table for 2, ordered & then asked if we would mind moving so they could move tables together for a larger number which was not problem. And it means people waiting get seated faster. Both of us had variations of the fry with a portion of beans between. Lovely food and would highly recommend. Did not feel rushed. We took a dessert to go. My husband had an ice-cream & I a slice of banoffee. Large portion and unable to finish but honestly the nicest I've tried. Only thing would prefer if there were condiment bottles instead of sachets, especially with a fry. Would definitely recommend...
