Went for a takeout breakfast treat on Saturday 10/04/21 and I would 100% recommend it to anyone and everyone. The food was delicious; the staff were so friendly and really brillant to chat to; and my order was taken promptly. They had contactless payment too which was great.
Patricia's was very clean and met with the new Covid precaution standards. There was hand sanitiser at the front door and clearly marked spacings on the floor so customers could maintain the required distance.
It was quiet when I arrived (about 10:30am), but when I was there the week before about 11:30am, it was a bit busier. I placed my order - french toast and a hot chocolate; brown toast with scrambled eggs and an Americano; and a bacon sandwich on white bread with brown sauce and a fruit shoot. The food was beyond delicious! It came to £20.65, which I thought was reasonable enough because the food, service and staff were second to none!
Patricia's also does a section of thee tastiest traybakes, scones and desserts! We didn't take any this week, but I got some the week before and it was too hard to choose!! I can't decide which is my favourite between the toffee roulade and the strawberry and white chocolate scones!
Anyway... Patricia's Coffee House is definitely worth a trip. And if the weather is good, and you manage to grab one of the benches on the quay... it is a great place to grab a coffee and a snack for an impromptu picnic! (They also do sandwiches and...
Read moreThe fact that this place opens on a Sunday morning early is just one of the good things about it. It was cosy and packed on a cold day and we were in for breakfast. The menu is not extensive or trendy: no smashed avocados here! However, eggs, bacon, sausage, puddings, etc and my smoked salmon scrambled egg was good. Also lots of pastries and cakes. The toast was plentiful and you'd wonder why they wouldn't put a butter dish out instead of like ten pats of butter in tinfoil to be unwrapped and create mess. The tea was weak and disappointing, but plentiful too which was badly needed. My mocha with extra shot was okay, but not very chocolatey or very strong on coffee taste. It was a real downer that when we asked for jam, it came in individual little glass pots, at 40p each. It was a mean-spirited kind of a cost for three people who already had spent on three breakfasts, pastries, cake, extra toasts, coffees and teas etc and the kind of thing that would put you off a place. The view of the Foyle is wonderful and I imagine that in summer there is outside seating. For November, a window seat was lovely. A real nice Derry thing: when we arrived there were only three seats in a row on high stools free. A lovely couple got up from their three-seater table and invited us to sit there, while they sat at the window. Where else...
Read moreChristmas 2024 was but a memory, I was working deep into my 5th late shifts in a row in A&E in Derry in New Years eve. I had rushed together The worst of pack lunches with stale dohertys bread and leftover cheese not good enough for the Christmas crackers. I only found out on unwrapping them that they were as mouldy as a donegal barn. I went to the canteen to find they had clocked off early for New Years eve. Imagine my delight to find an array of tasty treats from savoury pies to sweet turnovers. Delicately wrapped with a message of thanks to A&E. Needless to say I was pulled from the brink of despair and with such sustenance managed to survive another year. The memory of that light pastry of the turnover blending seamlessly with the delicious icing was music sweeter than any all langs eye to bring in the new year. Thanks Patricia and look forward to visiting in...
