Very disappointing and frightening experience here last Saturday night. There was a large piece of gravel in my meal, which nearly broke my teeth and/or could have been swallowed. As other people have commented the staff were very blasé and had little concern and constantly tried to pass the buck onto the supplier. No apology initially or attempt to rectify and charged me for the meal! Apology only came when I highlighted the gravity of the incident to the manager. There were 10 of us and we are all horrified by what happened in this reputable restaurant., Have never had such a poor experience in a restaurant
Update in response to reply from owner-Thank you for replying. It is interesting that you say that I am misrepresenting the situation when you were not there yourself and may not have an accurate picture. My review is honest, completely accurate and fair. I haven’t felt compelled to write a review like this about a restaurant before either. It is astonishing that the blame appears to be deflected onto me now. The one thing that it is correct to clarify is that I did not pay for the meal in the end. Because I refused to pay! The meal was charged on the bill as I stated accurately and this was why the situation escalated. I will also point out that I had to seek out the manager, and when he was challenged about why he had not done anything he told me to name what I wanted. I explained that the entire party’s evening had been spoiled because of the incident and how it had been handled and therefore a compensatory meal if possible would be an appropriate gesture. He said no, as you have also said even though the cost of the meal for our party was only £300 in total and would have been much less cost to yourselves. The point of this incident is not about free food though, it is about the bizarre and dismissive way the situation has been handled. This was an upsetting and traumatic experience which you don’t seem to want to acknowledge or take responsibility for and appear to want to diminish and point blame at anyone but yourselves. You are perfectly at liberty to do that but please do not claim that I have misrepresented the situation. As I pointed out to you already, one of the group also had a similar experience there with a piece of electrical eqpt in the meal! I don't see how I am holding the venue to ransom when It is pretty standard to expect a restaurant to compensate adequately for a bad experience. Telling people if you have a good or bad experience somewhere is normal practice also which is why sites like this exist and in your email you said that you welcome genuine reviews which although you may not like it, this is. As you note I will not be visiting the restaurant again but I am sure other customers will have a better...
Read moreReturning home from a meeting in Belfast on 27th July my wife and myself decided to eat at the Parsons Nose, having eaten there before but not knowing about the refurbishment. We were not impressed by the changes, there was a bit of character to the old place. We were on the first floor with the back of the pizza oven looming over us. We ordered the sourdough bread to share for starter and it was very good, however our mains arrived before we had finished and the waiter tried to remove the plate still with 2 pieces on it not once but twice and seemed quite insistent; the main course should never be served before starters are finished! The mains, chicken for my wife and pork chop for myself were served on cool plates which meant the potato rosti and spring cabbage my chop was served on were also cool; the chop was excellent but when asked for some English mustard a waiter told me that they had run out of mustard; a restaurant serving steaks, etc. running out of mustard, REALLY! The triple cooked chips were extremely hot and excellent. A few minutes later the five people behind me were told not touch their plates as they were very hot; the staff had to hold them with tea towels, not the case with ours. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive whenever she came to the table but at no point did she or anyone inquire as to whether our food was satisfactory, it was up to us to point out that the plates had been cool; if we'd sent them back they would only have been microwaved. We were very disappointed, having had some excellent meals there in the past. I doubt if we'll be back. This is the first time I've ever felt inclined to review anything on Google or...
Read moreHolidaying in northern ireland with 2 toddlers and an 11 year old, and essentially all my family recommended this place for a good Sunday lunch, they were not wrong! Without question the best tasting Sunday roast I've ever had. I don't know if they sous vide the beef or something but the great slab I had was better than fillet Steaks I've had, melted in my mouth. All the trimming were lovely too, the carrot and swede mash was so tasty and moorish, if they sold that in jars on the way out, I would have bought a bunch! I don't like horseradish but my sister and law said it was the best she ever had. We also all had sticky toffee pudding, it was a triumph! So delicate and soft. So tasty. Not too sweet, no horrid chewy chunks of date.
Daughter had a pizza, also absolutely delicious and amazing.
Great, really lovely service too. I'm not sure our waitresses name but she was really friendly and nothing seemed a problem for her.
The atmosphere was lovely too, really nicely laid out, typical gastro pub style but with a touch of class. I will without question go to this place every time I come to northern ireland.
The only point to make which isn't negative but is worth noting. It's not the cheapest, £30 for 2 courses is very well priced for that quality but it's more than some Sunday dinners. Worth every...
