Bond No.28 — Restaurant in Norwich

After ordering an Old Fashioned and having a couple of sips I complained to a member of staff that it was far too sweet and could another one be made up. The bar manager, Simeon, promptly appeared and advised he had tasted the drink and admitted it was very sweet, but cocktails are "subjective". My options were to have the drink which I had sent back, or to pay for a new drink...

Cocktails are not subjective - especially for a classic such as an Old Fashioned. The fact I had to prompt the bar staff to even consider placing some orange peel in the drink when ordering (no orange wheels in sight) and there are no cherries on the premises is a kind of oxymoron as no way was this drink "Old Fashioned".

To conclude I refused to have the drink back which I returned, and we decided to finish our evening in Bond and head somewhere else instead. What was most dismaying about this was the lack of customer service for what the establishment makes itself out to be. Unfortunately this has tainted what has been a regular haunt for myself and friends since...

Nice cocktail bar, in a great setting, with an excellent garden terrace. I really enjoy visiting this spot in the heart of Tombland - it's elegantly decorated, with a modern, cosmopolitan feel to it. They serve a great selection of cocktails, made expertly by their bar staff. Although I haven't been to it, I also hear that the downstairs room is home to a whisky bar. Towards the back is a tranquil terrace garden fitted with rattan furniture, large sun shades and heaters for the winter - tucked away between the venue and neighbouring buildings, it feels like an untouched secret garden hidden in the middle of the city - captured really well! My only gripe, thus the 4 star review, is that often in the evening the music is played at a volume that doesn't suit the venue - it's a great setting to chat over tasty drinks, but with the music I often find myself shouting over it. I pre-booked Bond No.28 three months ago for a group booking after reading the reviews. Unfortunately I didn't have the best experience. I was initially shared images of the area I had pre-booked which looked great, and I also asked to pre-order some bubbly as a surprise for the guests I was with. Whilst email communication was okay to begin with, I then had to follow up with a call 4 times to double check my booking was definitely confirmed and to ask to pay for the pre-ordered bubbly. When arriving on the evening, we were shown to a high table in the middle of the bar, with about 5 chairs, not ideal for a group of 13! I had to show the email and images I had been sent in advance to the team and they then agreed to move those that were sat in our area and allow us to sit there. Not the most ideal situation particularly after booking so far in advance and having to call up numerous times beforehand to double check...
