Was looking for a tasty burger meal, so thought I would give GBK a try.
The first thing I would is the staff are very pleasant and helpful, and informed me on their procedure on ordering and how your meal would be cooked.
After been shown to my table (outside which I requested), I sat down and decided on my order. i ordered The Persian Lamb Burger, Rosemary French Fries and a can of Lemon And Paeroa, which came to just under 15 pound, which surprised me how cheap it was. Also again, the girl who took my order was again pleasant and helpful, and pointed me to the free Monkey Nuts, and provided me with a glass for the nuts and shells.
After a ten minute wait my order came, complete with water and salt, and again served with a smile and a pleasant manner.
The Fries are really skinny, but nice and especially with the Rosemary. You also get a nice bowl full. I would say some of the best chips/fries I have had in a while, and very nice.
The Burger comes with a stick through the middle and has a nice varied compliment of vegetables with it. It was cooked just right for me, and very juicy, and unlike other burgers stayed together and didn't fall apart. Again one of the best burgers I have had in a few years.
The can of Lemon And Paedoa came with a glass of ice, and was very refreshing, and complimented the meal well.
I've heard GBK is an upmarket Burger King, but I would disagree as it is a place all of it's own making. More like a restaurant style burger and fries, where you pay before instead of after. It may cost more than your trip to Micky Ds', but the quality and service is much better, and you get what you pay for and the meal and service was value for money and left me filled and satisfied and looking forward to trying other burgers here and...
Read moreOdd. They have offers such as 3 sides for £9. They also do a student discount of 20%. I expected that offer items would be excluded from the student discount but full price items would be subject to the discount. Instead, they 'competed' on the bill and the end result was that my discount was useless. Unfortunately, I think this is intentional. Not okay.
As for the actual experience, I would say it was a nice meal. Expect to pay £20-25 per person for a drink, a main and a side. Service was quite slow really and the waiter was neutral. The food was of good quality and enjoyable but you are paying £10-£15 for a burger without any sides, salad or drink. Bit of a poor showing really when so many places nearby actually do legitimate lunchtime deals.
Tried one of their vegan burgers, it was a good option for any veggies. They do seem to put some effort into it.
They do £7 for a burger and fries, but the impression we got is that burger is basically a cheeseburger. Could be wrong. Doubt it though.
Good (not gourmet) food, gourmet prices. No...
Read moreGreat value! The gourmet burger kitchen is my type of place, proper food for proper prices! I had been excited to go here for a few days and it was certainly worth the wait, lovely staff who were smiling and even took the time to help us get our small baby situated. Something all establishments should do!!
On to the food: I ordered the classic chicken burger with panko crispy chicken, a generously sized piece of chicken topped with lettuce, tomato and a perfect blend of sweet tomato relish and mayonnaise. This relish was no joke as I even got a side of it to dip my halloumi bites into :) Furthermore, the sides were awesome and with the 3 for £10 deal they were a no brainer! We selected the halloumi bites, chicken tenders and onion rings all 10/10 in their own rights. Onion rings aren’t usually my go to but these were excellent with a crispy batter and yummy inside!
All together for 3 adults we only spent £50 and were left full and very pleased! Would definitely recommend if you’re craving a...
