This is the third time I have been to this place, so I have given them the benefit of doubt. The service is appalling. The rude, loud, overbearing waiter is very patronising and does not understand the meaning of catering to all customers. There is a kids menu, but limited vegetarian or non meat choices. Initially, I ordered the vegetarian sausage meal for my little one, who did not like the sausages as they had spring onions in there. Therefore, I asked the waiter for fish fingers as extras (not a meal), explaining my child did not want the sausages. He brought out a fish finger meal which I explained I did not want, I only wanted the fish fingers. Do not order the fish fingers whatever you do, they were cheap, smelly and an off colour, which were left, not to be eaten (see photo). I had the Turkish vegetarian breakfast which was ok, but I have had better. When coming to pay, the waiter charged me for two kids meals without telling me, until I realised and questioned him about the fish fingers. He told me that he was not able to charge me just for the fish fingers and would have to charge the full meal. Eventually, he removed the extra meal he had charged me for, after I explained my child did not even eat the fish fingers and that they were off colour and did not look right. I have been here previously where I had a tea and cheesecake, and they had warmed up the cheesecake. The service is appalling and the owner seems very grumpy and unapproachable. The decor looks, nice and inviting, but food is overpriced, and customer service is not great. The waiter (Turkish man, very loud with longish hair tied back) does not listen to his customers and what they require, or cater to their specific dietary requirements. Like I said, I have given this place the benefit of doubt as I’ve visited this place three times now, and I will not be returning, and will not recommend to any of my friends or family.

We decided to have the menemen dish, as we were very familiar with this dish from our many years traveling in Bulgaria and Turkey. What an utter dissapointment! It was nothing more then a tin of chopped tomatoes, tiny pieces of pepper and no more then 1 egg each. When I explained this to the tall male he seemed very shocked that I told him there was not even any onion in the dish. He did try to tell me that it was made for the British palate, whilst some of this maybe true, the majority is what I feel a very poor excuse. Both me and my partner then informed the same man that the dish was UNNACEPTABLE and lacked any flavour at all, and that we know what this dish should be like. We told him that I am a vegetarian and my partner mostly. After about 10 minutes he very kindly tried to compensate for the error and brought some strange Nacho dish with chicken ( not a typical Turkish dish) this added further salt to the wound, as he obviously didn't pay attention when I told him I was a vegetarian. This was a very uncomfortable situation made worse. Then the ultimate insult came we had been charged full price £21 for what was no more then a tin of chopped tomatoes. This level, quality and quantity is simply not acceptable. No attempt was made to reduce the bill in any way, which was A very bad move. From our large and considered experience we feel that no Turkish chef with pride would serve such awful poor quality food. You really need to rethink what you are doing with this dish and make it as it should be and do not cut corners, that's a sure way for a business to ultimately fail.. We do hope you take on board this very constructive feedback and show appropriate goodwill. The photo is what menemen should look like!

We tried Bronte & Co when it first opened and weren’t particularly impressed, mainly due to poor service. Yesterday, I decided to give it another go and went for breakfast. Unfortunately, despite the restaurant’s popularity, it failed to deliver once again. Poached eggs on toast shouldt be a slam dunk for any establishment, yet the toast was undercooked and the butter nearly impossible to spread—presumably because it had just come straight out of the fridge. While the eggs and salad were acceptable, the lack of a proper, well-toasted base for it all to sit on detracted significantly from the dish On the positive side, the decor is lovely, the tables are well spaced, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Did I bring these issues to the staff’s attention? No. Unusually for a modern restaurant, no one came over to ask how things were (in contrast to the frequent check-ins you expect nowadays), and by the time the bill arrived, I’d finished my meal and it felt unreasonable to expect them to redo it. In summary, Bronte & Co is a pleasant restaurant with friendly staff and the potential to be something special but poor execution continues to let them down.

Food was really good when we finally received it and if it hadn’t have been for the service and lack of acknowledgement of the issues we’d had I’d probably return.

We hadn’t been before and wasn’t sure if we needed to book a table or if walk-ins were accepted, when we walked in a women approached us and asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside, we choose inside as it was quite hot outside and it wasn’t too busy inside,we weren’t guided to a table and was just told to just sit anywhere.

After around 5 minutes someone took our food and drink order, we sat and waited but no drinks were brought to our table, around 30-40 minutes had passed by now and we still hadn’t received our drinks, I asked what the delay was and they asked us what drinks we had ordered, then someone finally brought our drinks over with a very quick sorry! Then 2 people came over asked who took our order and it was one of the two that were asking us, then we were asked if we were ready to order our food we told them we had ordered almost 40-45 minutes ago they then said so you’ve already eaten then! No we hadn’t received our drinks or food we just been here waiting. We then had to reorder our food and wait even longer for it to come out they then missed something off the order and had to rush it through the kitchen. We ate and asked for the bill. I was expecting some kind of acknowledgment that our whole experience had been disappointing but no, no apology and not even a discount off the bill.

Couldn’t fault the food at all, we both had flatbreads with a side of sweet potato fries and I’d give the food a solid 4/5.

Overall a very disappointing first and...
