Sherwood Manor — Restaurant in Nottingham

This place gets two stars based on several factors. The food actually being pretty good, no issues with the quality. There was however horrendous waits on both our mains and our deserts never actually arrived. Tables not cleared by staff in a timely manner, even though they had acknowledged this. Again staff were polite, just not there! Re missing deserts - was first raised around 30 min mark which is too long. At the hour mark, we went to the bar to request a refund. Initially we were Told by bar maid you've had your deserts. We had not. We then asked for a refund again, which was accepted. However, the only person who was able to issue the refund wasn't available to do this for another 10 mins. He was however pleasant and apologised for the delay. The payment on my card has still actually gone through, no refund so far. I'm sure this has been raised, and perhaps not something that can be managed at pub level, but the pay and display parking is needless and furthermore should really have machines that take card and or Ringo. Wait at the bar was too long, being busy isn't and should never be an excuse at a weekend in a pub. Noticeably understaffed, sickness is also not an excuse in a pub that size. Sat at our table and decide on food as it's Thursday some meals include either a free starter or a pudding, go to the bar and order, staff member called Courtney takes our order. We clearly state we want the meal with a pudding, and Courtney's tells us the price and instructs us to pay with the card machine. We then ask when do we order the FREE pudding with the meal as that's what it should include, to then be told we should of ordered it all together and nothing she can do! Awful customer service! She didn't tell us to order the pudding with the meal as it should of been free which we didn't know needed to be ordered with the main course as it doesn't state that and never being there before we didn't know that. Courtney then says all that can be done is order the pudding separately and just pay full price! It should of been free. She then asks someone who is meant to be a higher up for 'help', and we was told "can't do owt it's illegal to change the order we'll lose our job", being honest neither of them should have their job with the awful customer service they have! We came here before Christmas to have a family meal in the . We had a good experience however I few weeks later I have revived a car parking fine of £60 for parking in the pub car park. It was dark when we parked and we have never been to the pub before (I have been to many other Hungry Horse Pubs and never had to pay for parking). We had absolutely no idea we needed to get a ticket until the letter came. There was no signs in the pub as a warning. I have called the pub on several occasions to try and discuss this with a manager and no one has responded. I have also tried to appeal to the parking company and have had no response until now where I have been threatened with legal action and the fine has gone up to £160. This is becoming a extremely stressful experience from what was a nice family meal. I have found no other way to contact the pub to speak about this other than writing a review on here. Please warn your customers that they need a ticket as it seems extremely unfair that after spending a lot of money in this pub I am now having to spend more.
