I was looking forward to this place opening for a long time. I frequently visit Bradford so I know what to expect but Bradford has long since moved on and has MUCH better food. So now here we are in Nottingham. I gave it a shot and was pretty disappointed. It could be partly due to having had much nicer food since Mahmoods made a name for itself so long ago but it's also definitely the overall experience that was a problem..
Staff generally seem very moody. I asked the lad behind the counter what an Arabia burger was, he said it was a wrap. I said it's listed under Burgers, to which he replied "yeah but it's a wrap". Very helpful. No indication of what's inside it or why it's described as a burger. I found it funny so chuckled a little.
Food ordered and I notice a price hike compared to the menu. I ask to see the ticket and mention the price difference. He replies "Theres a 10% charge for eating in". What?! I laughed again briefly in disbelief. It's a takeaway, not a restaurant. There are those who will claim "Its normal, loads of places do this". To those people I say "Do Mcdonalds, Burger King, Maryland, Pepe's, Chunky Chicken?, no, because it's stupid". It's like they've forgotten they're a takeaway and not a fancy diner.
Food arrived without an issue. Like most modern takeaways they have a vibrating beeper system where you get a device that buzzes when your order is ready. So I collected my order from the counter and sat down at a table. No sauces nearby so I asked where they were and was pointed to one corner of the room. I notice all of the sauces are locked away in a device to hide the huge industrial bottles which is fine but when pumping the sauce the whole thing shakes as if it's about to collapse. The only bin in the takeaway is also located underneath this which isn't really encouraging.
Food quality was average at best. Cheeseburger is fine and just as I remember it from Bradford but it's definitely sub-standard compared to whats out there today (Buns?). I don't remember any lettuce or any other salad, only cheese and perhaps burger sauce. That was fine though as it's what I expected. Processed meat... for £5.33 a meal. For approx £2 extra you get a meal at Buns or Pepes with a gourmet burger. The chicken wings were incredibly dry and tough to eat. Chips were nice enough.
All in all a pretty average to below average meal. The 10% eating in charge is shocking, especially since there is zero table service, I had to ask for tissues, I had to get sauces from one location rather than sauces being on the table itself. What do you pay for? a seat.. and a tray instead of a bag. I'd like to see them stop somebody from getting takeout and deciding they actually want to eat inside after their food arrives. The menu mentions the extra cost in one place. I'd argue it's not very transparent or at all explained. Instead they should say "Would you like to eat in, it's an extra charge of 10%". But nope, because most people would walk out and go Royals across the road or around the corner to any number of takeaways on Radford Road (Munch Munch offers similar food, more variety at better quality with £0 charge for eating in). As I said, food has come a long way since Mahmoods began. It seems they're stuck in the past and even Nottingham has moved on. I'd only ever go back if my friends really wanted to go there or if I had no other choice. It's a shame really. They are busy and have a decent flow of customers at this point in time but it's barely been 2 weeks since launch. I predict it'll go the same way RBCO went in the same area unless they remove the silly eat in charge for starters. Ironically I reviewed them in a similar light and they were reluctant to listen to advice and shut down....
Read moreCame here a while ago but didn’t get round to writing a review until now. Visited this place after hearing the big hype about it and how it’s a ‘halal McDonald’s’, ordered 2 chicken fillet burger meals, a beef burger meal (don’t know the actual name of it) and chicken nuggets on the side. Asked the staff at the till what the minimum order for nuggets is and he said 8 (my sister went the day before and had 4) but I ordered those anyway. They messed up my order and gave me 3 beef burgers and and a nugget meal. I didn’t ask for the nuggets to be as a meal and I wasn’t given a receipt either so I couldn’t check and I didn’t realise until I got home. They didn’t put the lids on the drinks properly so as I was driving home all the drinks spilt over in my car :). I tried contacting them when I got home about my wrong order but I couldn’t find any contact details online. The food was absolutely horrible, the tiniest patties of meat and the drinks (what was left of them) were more filling than the food itself, you’d think I ordered kids meals! If people are hyping up this place then they must have bottom of the barrel standards - the staff look like they’re being forced to work there and look as if they’ve picked random people off the streets to work, food is very expensive for the quality and portion size and there is nothing wow about this place at all. I wouldn’t eat from here even if...

Big dripper is the most famous so i ordered that, taste was good but for over £5 it is a bit steep for 3 small burger patties in a bun with chips.
I also got the so called ‘crispy’ chicken fillet burger and I was very disappointed. The name of the burger sounds so appetising but when we opened the burger it was just a small basic cheap chicken burger which you can buy at Dixy/Maryland for £1.
For the price (over £4) we thought it would be a proper chicken fillet piece but unfortunately it wasn’t.
My main reason for giving 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is because they charge you 10% to eat inside which is absolutely pathetic. It’s a takeaway for god sakes not a posh restaurant. They are very sly and don’t ever mention this and I wasn’t aware. Also what are you paying for ??? as you don’t get any table service or anything extra, staff are moody, sauces are located other side of the shop so you have to keep getting up and pushing past the People in the queue and there is only one bin near the sauces.
When have ANY other takeaway (McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC, DIXY, Maryland) ever added 10% to your bill because you are eating inside.
Waiting time is fine, doesn’t take too long and food is ready within 10/15 minutes which is usual.
Overall it was a Decent experience but make sure to use the weekday offers they have, as prices...
