The Griff House Beefeater — Restaurant in Nuneaton and Bedworth

What on earth is going on at this restaurant? Regretably this review is not a great appraisal. We waited 15 minutes before someone even came to attend to us before being seated. Nobody was on the desk we wandered around looking for someone to ask. We were booked for a table at 6:30 on Sunday It was well over an hour before my friends starter came out after we asked them where our food was more than once. The table was sticky from the previous diners drinks. I asked twice for that to be cleaned because my clothing was sticking to it and it just wasnt nice. The plant based roast dinners should have been the same as the meat ones with 'all the trimmings' except the meat dinner was delivered to our friend and we had the vegetarian version but by comparrison half of the trimmings were not on our plates. No parsnips, no sprouts, we ordered a side order of grilled brussels sprouts too, they never arrived. We asked 3 times for them and were advised they would be sent and it was their mistake so we wouldn't be charged for them. By this point we were awaiting our desert and still no side order. We said after the meal that we had never received the side order and all they said was oh well we won't charge you for those then. No 'sorry we are out of sprouts', just 'oh'. They couldn't care less to be honest.

We asked for soft drink refills which you offer for no charge which didn't come. We had to get up during our dinner to wait at the bar for those.

I don't mean any disrespect to the young server she was pleasant and she was doing a lot of other tasks but as customers it was shocking service. I'd say it was only a quarter full so if there had been any more diners in there what would they have done? The food was OK, some of it was hot some cooler and dry from the hot plate. There were a lot of potatoes on the plate so I wonder if they had run out of vegetables which is why we never received ours. Oh and we had not long since finished our deserts because everything was a long time coming and we were still drinking up and they started to hoover up around us and the server came to the table to tell us at 9:55 we had 5 minutes till closing! We weren't finished and that was not our fault. It was the long waits for everything. Disgraceful really. Nothing like feeling like you're in the way. We should not have paid all of the bill in hind sight but when you're out with friends you don't exactly want to make a fuss. Having a meal out with friends is a real luxury these days, this was a 50th birthday outing and so we regrettably we won't be back, we will spend our hard earned money at another...

We went last weekend and the food was good but everything else was poor. Our waitress was very rude to our table and had a very bad attitude problem throughout the evening. Myself and another member of the group tried to order cocktails as they were 2 for £10 and then were told we couldn't have the ones we wanted due to lack of ingredients and all we could have was a sex on the beach, then the waitress came back and said we couldn't even have that one as they didn't have the juice to make it, so we had to go without as they were incapable of making a single cocktail out of the 9 on the menu. The rude waitress was the worst part considering there was about 30 of us on the table and we all had a main and about half of us had desserts and we ordered plenty bottles of wine and various other drinks so we ended up paying a significant amount of money in total (and this is not a cheap restaurant by any means), only for us to be spoken to like that. I understand it's difficult to be a waitress for that many people on one table, but there was no need for the rudeness. The final straw was when we were sent round to the bar to finish our drinks and we were all just having a chat and a laugh and the waitress shouted "I'm gonna have to ask you all to shut up now" in the most rude manner I have ever witnessed in a restaurant. I was going to cause a fuss over this as it was unacceptable behaviour but it was my grandads birthday so I didnt want to make a scene and upset anyone any more than they already were so we just left. I was going to come back with some friends in a few weeks but after this experience, we will go to the Griff down the road instead. Being an NHS worker myself, if i spoke to anyone like that whilst on shift, my job would be at risk so its unbelievable this person is likely to go without consequence. We visited for a meal on 18th December at 5pm. Firstly we stood for 6 minutes at the entrance before anyone even came to greet us. We were told there was a delay because it was a new shift team starting. We were then shown to a table in a nice spot. Huge list of unavailable menu items on the table was a bit off-putting, but we found things that we wanted. Server came over but wasn't wearing a mask the whole time we were there. She also seemed like she did not want to be there at all. I asked for the ribs, which she said was unavailable (even though this was not on the list of unavailable items). Starter came out quickly and was fine. Quite a long wait for mains and mine was stone cold (I had 1/2 chicken in the end). I let the server know and she took the plate and said she would get a fresh one. When she came back about 10 minutes later, the plate was extremely hot and all the food was the same, so it had obviously just been shoved in the microwave. This made the chicken very dry and rubbery, the corn was mushy and the whole plate was extremely unappetising. I was also put off with the chicken being reheated as I am 6 months pregnant and have to be careful of things like that. When the server came back to ask if things were better, I asked if it had just been microwaved and she lied and said no. I said I would just leave the food at that point as my friend had nearly finished and the server just walked off! No apology, no offer of something else. When we asked for the bill, they had not taken my meal off, which we found bizarre! Attitude was appalling....
