I hope senior management see this and take action.
Hello, We regularly eat breakfast at our local Chaiwala in Slough, so we are well aware of the standard of food, which is always great but the Oxford branch was real let down.
The location and vibes are awesome just a shame about one staff member and some of the food quality.
When I ordered I explained to the lady on the till that the last time we came the sausages and bacon were not fresh, so please can you be mindful.
Order came and the sausages looked like they had been wrapped in leather and bacon was dry but I was starving so I kindly asked for only the sausages to be changed, she took the whole plate and I knew the rest of the food would become cold so I asked for the plate back and requested sausages to be brought out when ready.
The sausages came out after I had finished the whole meal and again they had tough skin them. I didn’t say nothing and just took some picture so I can upload for my review. The lady who served me came over and asked what’s the problem I explained that the sausages were hard again and she was adamant they are fresh, which they clearly were not.
The Oxford management need to pick up the phone to the Slough management to get some tips because we get takeaway from the Slough branch and the sausages still stay fresh so why can’t the Oxford branch get a...
Read moreThere’s something charming about Chaiwala that keeps me coming back. Open late, it’s the kind of place where you can order a single masala chai and linger for hours—reading, studying, etc.
My go-to is the pani puri. One time, i did make the mistake of ordering massla fries, expecting crispy, thin, well-seasoned potatoey goodness. Instead, I got what can be best described as McDonald's fries, drenched in a slightly indian-isnpired pizza sauce and garnished with the essence of spring onion. They were soggy and just bizarre, and i am pleased to say i have not since made the same mistake.
The pani puri, whilst not the best I’ve ever had, but for the price, it consistently delivers—spicy, tangy, and packed with that addictive crunch. And let’s be honest, even the average pani puri is still pretty damn superb.
The massla chai is the perfect balance between sweet, earthy, and warming, and it's hard to find something somewhat representative of a traditional chai in a world of Starbucks Chai Lattes and Frappes loaded with cream, sweeteners, syrups and God knows what else.
Chaiwala is a safe space. A space that feels inviting. You never feel you'll be asked to leave or pushed to order more. Service is fast and, for the most part, friendly, but you're free here to retreat into your own bubble as...
Read morewent in there on the evening of 12th January 2022 with a couple of friends, we ordered karak chai and two cakes, when the cakes arrived they were very stale and dry, we had only taken one bite from the cake and decided to return them. the manager came over (short guy with glasses) he started arguing and telling us that it should be served soaked in tea that’s why it was dry, i told him that’s not what we wanted and we were never told that it’s served soaked in tea. we told him the cake is displayed as a normal iced sponge cake and hence why we ordered it as a cake. We asked if he can exchange it for something else. He was unwilling to exchange or refund and instead bought back my friends part eaten cake soaked in some dishwasher looking water. this is a poor operation and the manager needs some serious customer service training, i would advice anyone to avoid buying any of the cakes and avoid going to this place until they have sorted out their customer...
