Sadly a bad first experience. We booked a table for three, 6 days earlier for our anniversary as part of our stay in Oxford with our daughter. When we arrived the restaurant was heaving with big groups (great for atmosphere) but it appeared they hadn't reserved our table as we were asked to wait and they sorted us a table near the bar.
Food came quickly and service was polite, and then it all went bad during the mains .
Another group arrived and it was clear the restaurant wanted our table for them Before we even finished our mains the bill was on the table, without us asking for it. We continued to enjoy our drinks while getting stares from some of the group waiting. We were asked to pay before we had finished these and at this point I explained we never asked for the bill. It was quickly taken away and my partner endured more stares from the waiting group.
I spoke to who appeared to be the manager and whilst he apologised, his apology included "you should have come last night". He offered a further drink on the house but we didn't fancy any more stares from the waiting group, we paid and left.
Sadly our anniversary meal was a rushed meal that...
Read moreThis restaurant was fantastic! We found it on both Google and Tripadvisor and just showed up hoping for a table. We brought along our 5 month old in his stroller. The host apologized that they did not have a table (they were booked up) - but we knew they also do takeaway, so we asked about that. We ordered and they were more than happy to let the three of us hang out in the small waiting area until the food was ready. The host even took some time to play with our son. When they brought our food, she gave us a free bottle of beer and an apology that we couldn't get a table - such a wonderful gesture!
The food was fantastic! We ordered Lamb Momos, Peshwari Naan (get this! It was the best thing!), Naspati Chicken, Swadilo Chicken, and Saag Rice. The rice was important, and a suggestion from the server - the curries do not include rice.
We are sad that we'll likely not have a chance to try their other dishes (when will we ever be back in Oxford), so you should go...
Read moreThree of us went to Yeti on a Tuesday evening. The staff were friendly and welcoming, providing an excellent service. I had pre booked a table just in case. There were a few other tables with guests, so I would imagine it could be busy at the weekend. The Nepalese menu is interesting and varied with plenty of vegetarian options. Between us, we shared a variety of dishes, including a mixed platter of momos, swadilo chicken, and chow mein - to name a few. The food was excellent, and what remained we could box ourselves, to take away. With wines and beer, the bill was £120. I'm only sorry that I didn't take a photo to share. Students can use their discount cards. There's on street parking if you are fortunate to get a space, but there's a car park behind Tesco, just down the road. If you enjoy independent restaurants with good food and pleasant staff, this is definitely the...
