Visted the Oxford branch on Thursday the 7th of March, having not been for many years and had been great. This experience was altogether a different story.
We arrived at 7pm, were seated by a member of staff who look overjoyed (sarcasm) to be there. I should have known what we were in for as soon as we walked in and saw only 4 other tables occupied.
We ordered 2 coke's which arrived a few minutes later and tasted "off" if thats the right word, both almost clear and obviously didn't have enough syrup mixed.
Not having the Chicken calzone on the menu I remembered, I opted for a cheeseburger and my wife orderd a margarita pizza.
No less than 5 minutes later our food arrived and honestly I was a little taken back by how quickly arrived given the state of the burger I was greeted with.
It was almost black on the outside, the beef was crumbling apart..much like something you leave on a BBQ and forget about, only not hot enough to melt the "cheese" that was on top.. being at that stage where it starts to sweat and just started to turn translucent. I took two bites and decided not to risk potential stomach issues later in the evening.
My wifes pizza genuinely looked like it had been removed from a box 5 minutes prior, something like a Chicago Town frozen pizza you find in Budgens, again 2 slices and she gave up, you would have a better experience at a McDonalds drive through.
The food was quite obviously pre cooked and re heated, the service was lackluster being more preoccupied with the several Uber Eats riders waiting for thier collections and the only reason I have given it a 2 is because I felt a modicum of sympathy for the poor guy who looked like he'd rather be anywhere but there at that particular moment.
In summary, we arrived at 7pm ordered drinks and food and were back out the front door by 7.35pm.
Not the buzzing lively place it once was, terrible food, terrible atmosphere and will not...
Read moreI recently dined at Frankie & Benny’s and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the staff, setting a welcoming tone for the evening. The atmosphere was lively yet relaxed, with that familiar cozy Italian-American vibe that makes you feel right at home.
Our servers, Poppy and Fabian, truly went above and beyond to make the meal memorable. Poppy was attentive and friendly, checking in with us at just the right moments without ever being intrusive. She had great menu recommendations and a genuine smile that brightened up the table. Fabian, equally excellent, was quick to assist with our requests and had a fantastic sense of humor that added a light-hearted touch to our experience. Their teamwork and professionalism made us feel incredibly well-cared for.
The food, as always, was outstanding. We started with the classic garlic bread and Calamari, both of which were fresh and bursting with flavor. For mains, the spaghetti carbonara was creamy and perfectly seasoned, while the BBQ ribs were tender and cooked to perfection—truly mouthwatering. The dessert options didn’t disappoint either; the sundae was amazing!
In terms of value, Frankie & Benny’s exceeded expectations. The quality of the food, combined with the fantastic service from Poppy and Fabian, made the experience well worth every penny. I highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a delicious meal and top-notch service. Thank you, Frankie & Benny’s, for a wonderful...
Read moreWent to Frankie & Bennies 1/2/25 received a reasonable arrival & seating time but on arrival was at asked to go to the bar & order drinks before seating. I found this annoying as its just a away of taking your money before you seat. Food wait time was reasonable but I ordered the Sirloin Steak Medium it came Medium rare & had not been rested as blood was all over the plate & wasn't that great. My wife order Lasagna we thought it might at least come with a salad or a garlic bread but that was it just a lasagna. My son had the classic chicken burger that was ok I guess as burgers go. Not once was we asked how the meal was any issues nothing. Sticky us on the table from the old Table numbers just left. Place feels tired worn still the same from when it first opened. If you want an ok meal then Frankie & Bennies will be ok. But that's it it's just ok. Wasn't happy to be asked to scan my phone with a Google card to leave a review this made me feel uncomfortable but heres my review. Sadly not ideal place would choose elsewhere its tired feels a bit dirty & old with lack of customer care & a little expensive for...
