Italiamo Cafe — Restaurant in Oxford

"Hey Mambo! Mambo Italiamo..." 🇮🇹

Brand new cafe that already has big queues, even on a Sunday lunch in lockdown. There were a load of Italian's in the queue - always an encouraging sign.

Sells Calzone, Cenovese, Pastries, and Coffee.

🍕 Calzone (aka folded pizza) includes Coffa Salami & Emental, Spicy Salami, Salami & Mozzarella, Ham & Mushroom, Veggie, and even Vegan (with Vegan Cheese). 🍕

🥐 Pastries include Canvoli Pistachio, Canvoli Chocolate, Arogostoni, Cestini Pistachio, Cantucci Chocolate, Tutti Frutti Italian Pastries, and others.

Also Spinach Aranchini (and one or two other flavours). Picture a scotch egg 🥚filled with rice 🍚 and cheese 🧀 and you get the picture. Delicious and available in veggie and vegan options too. 😋

Oh, and Rijo Filter coffee. ☕

The one suggestion would be to have more people serving / less waiting. I was there 10 minutes and the queue barely moved. Essentially seems to be a one man band.

Still: do support them rather than Mackie D's. Corporates will likely survive, but new, small businesses need our help.

UPDATE 06/2024 (original was 2021): Went back today and the server was rude and aggressive. When he muttered "Peach or Lemon" I said OK... and he replied really angrily. He then aggressively insisted I go in the garden. Maybe it was just a bad day for him, but it's taken the shine off my experience and...

What an amazing meal and experience at ItaliAmo! From the moment we sat down, Madina and Stefano made us feel like old friends. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming—you can really tell they pour their hearts into the place. The food is absolutely spot-on. The pizzas are next-level: perfectly crisp crust, generous toppings, and bursting with flavour. The antipasto board was a real highlight, loaded with fresh cheeses, meats, olives, and little extras that made it feel truly special. Everything tasted so authentic, just like you’d hope for in a real Italian spot. We had such a great time—lots of laughs, great conversation, and the kind of food that brings everyone together. If you want a genuine Italian experience with friendly faces and fantastic dishes, ItaliAmo is the place to go. Can’t wait...

On the first visit we bought 2 drinks and he opened them without asking us, I said I didn’t want them opened and he said we should have said - I said you should have asked. He did give us then 2 sealed drinks but seemed annoyed. 2nd visit same person gave me vegan instead of veggie calzone and then when asking for a replacement gave me another vegan one. The cheese was clearly not mozzarella as it tasted really fake and I was not going back again to get another one / refund as was fed up by that point. I did not eat it and it went in the bin, £4.30 wasted. They were nice to apologise but to make the same mistake twice was frustrating. Will not be giving the place another chance after this...
