The pictures show the view from our outdoor dining table right beside the River Tamar with the Royal Albert Bridge and the Tamar Bridge side by side in the sunlight! The Ferry House Inn is situated in Saltash Passage, a quiet backwater with plenty of free parking. The menu is fairly comprehensive, traditional pub food with something for everyone. My wife was eyeing my steak and stilton pie enviously as she tucked into her scampi chips and mushy peas! Delightful pub in a special location. (Too nice to waste time reading my book "Professor Harry Parker and the Tunnels of Argonaut Bay" by Steve Pick available on Amazon kindle - but please do!)

I stayed here along with some colleagues on a work trip. To start the quant inn is located right near the river, with beautiful views in the morning and evenings. The rooms themselves are modern, clean and cosy with added bonuses of heated floor and newly renovated showers. The beds are large and comfortable with enough sockets accessible. The area it's located is a very quiet and doesn't have much traffic The breakfast in the morning was good, everything was fresh and tasted good along with the coffee. All the staff are friendly and welcoming would recommend a stay here.

Back to my old haunt from 31 yrs ago when a teenager. The place has certainly changed. The bar is now a little cosy restaurant and the old lounge area is the bar. The menu is amazing and food is so tasty. The quality of the ingredients are fantastic. You can definitely taste the difference. Food cooked beautifully and we'll presented too. The chef is a credit to your establishment. They have a varied menu and two theme night menus. One was a gourmet burger night (Monday I think) and the other an American night ( Thursday). Well worth a visit for food.

Racism at every level — from the staff to the ownership, and even worse, the local customers.

If you’re thinking of going there just for the views and food, this is not the place to be. As a well-travelled individual, I was shocked by the treatment I received. Having an Eastern European accent apparently counts against you here — even if you're polite, try to tip, or simply start a friendly conversation about life and dreams.

This place fails to represent what the United Kingdom should stand for.

As someone who owns a business in Plymouth and is always generous and respectful, I was treated like an outsider — just because of my accent. It’s disheartening, and I honestly don’t believe this environment reflects the mindset of the younger generation (ages 19–30).

If you're a foreigner, don’t expect respect here.

I would not be surprised if other minorities, including Black people, are made to feel equally unwelcome. As an Eastern European, I’ve had two separate negative experiences here.

Please, go try it for yourself — but know this: If they can’t adapt to the humanity of today’s world, they should not be in business.

No place for racism. No place for sexism. Shame on those who let this become the norm.

I appreciate your response, but I stand by what I experienced. It’s not just about one night or one staff member — it’s the overall atmosphere and how people like me, with a foreign accent, are treated.

I’ve been there more than once, and both times I felt clearly unwelcome — not by a single person, but by the collective vibe and certain customers too. It’s easy to say you have “many different kinds of people” coming through, but when someone shares a different experience, brushing it off as “misleading” doesn’t help.

I’m not here to argue — just sharing my real experience in hopes that places like yours take this as feedback and reflect on how to create a genuinely welcoming space for everyone, not just...

I don't know if its changed ownership recently but it's just gone downhill. Service is poor and people behind the bar now rude not friendly and welcoming like before. Been twice in the last 3 months and first time food was put in the till wrong, pointed this out and they dismissed it. Told 2 staff that they put the wrong thing in and can they let the kitchen know, they both didn't. No surprise food came out wrong. Also given someone else's meal first. Just embarrassing really that no one seems to know how to use the till or communicate. Thought give them another chance. Went on Monday, noticed prices have gone right up. Ordered chicken stroganoff off the specials. Guy behind the bar looked at me like why am I ordering that, then swiftly wiped it off the specials board. Was served a very small portion. It was an insult for £17. Also was not great tasting. Was left hungry and disappointed. Witnessed sexism- woman waiting at the bar ignored and man who arrived after was served, attitude of staff leaves a lot to be desired. Used to love this place now...

Went for a birthday party and stayed here, £98, the Inn said there was free parking, well it was, outside on the road if you could get a space, lovely bed, clean white and fresh, shower really good, no fridge, there was a wardrobe, one stool, could not figure out how to put the bed side lamps on, lovely view, we getting ready to go, then all of a sudden, a very light tap on the door, then this guy unlocked our door and said oops sorry, this was my room, but bar staff were very busy and he could not ask which room he had, not very good, he should have stayed there until the staff could see to him, as we always lock our room door, but a bit worrying that this person unlocked our door, as he still had the key, anyway had breakfast, which was okay, two pieces of brown toast, one was badly burnt, l nor my partner ate...
