Unfortunately I'm not able to recommend the Bookshelf and Tearooms on Fore Street. I attended in early April with my partner and two young daughters, and didn't feel comfortable enough to stay longer than we had hoped (just the one coffee and a few bottles of water). My eldest daughter was excited to see the modest kids book collection, but neither her nor myself or my partner were able to quickly review the book before being advised that 'I had to pay an expensive £17.99 for a book because I had picked it up to ensure it's suitability. Furthermore, I was 'encouraged' to buy the highly priced book again when we paid for our drinks when the server asked 'and the book as well?'. I felt uncomfortable (and somewhat pressured) to buy an expensive book because I had picked it up to see if my daughter liked it.
Fortunately, she was a fan of the book! However, I refused to buy the book on principle from the Bookshelf and instead get it at a cheaper price in another independent store within Saltash!
A great place for a specific audience, but not recommended for a family...

The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making me feel right at home. The snacks are delightful, with a good variety to choose from.
As a book lover, I was thrilled to find that they also sell books! It's a wonderful place to enjoy a good read while sipping on your favorite beverage. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a charming place to enjoy good company, great food, and a little...

Good service and reasonable price, served in a polite, friendly and professional manner. The scones were delicious, super fresh and home made and the cream and jam portions were very generous. The tea pot made 3 cups for me alone. Highly...
