Went to the Portsbridge to try their Sunday roast. TWO meals for less than £10.00. Roast beef, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, 3 veg, Yorkshire pudding and stuffing. (No horseradish? Oh well, would have liked it, but not a major issue.) Can't go wrong at that can you?
Famous last words!!!
The meals arrived quite quickly, and looked OK. Good start. But no gravy! That's OK we thought, the gravy is sure to come imminently, the server only has 2 hands after all. He then passed us with 2 gravy boats which were delivered to a lady a few tables over, who had actually almost finished her meal, but none for us. We called the server over and asked where our gravy was and was told "Oh no! You have to order gravy as an extra when you order your meal" What?!?! I was confused. A roast with no gravy? Gravy needs to asked for? I even checked the menu again. Definitely says it comes with gravy. We asked again and were told it would be brought to us. Another few minutes go by and our meal is getting colder. Then the gravy arrives...in the smallest gravy boat I have ever seen. Is it actually a gravy boat? It was only the length of my husbands finger and it was supposed to be for two people! I went to the bar to complain, and we were eventually brought two more boats, much larger, and plenty of gravy. Bit of an overkill actually, but I asked for it lol. Now to eat... ...or not! The roast beef was almost inedible. We had to 'saw' through it and couldn't chew it at all. I was so disappointed. We'd had a lovely meal there a couple of weeks before, an all day breakfast/brunch, and a mixed grill and thought the Portsbridge may be our new 'go to' place. We left without eating 😞 I was only going to give one star but giving 3 only due to the previous experience and the way our issue was handled when we did complain. The manageress(?) was very sincere in her apology, and we did get our money back. Thank you. Haven't decided yet, but may give one more try and hope this...

Conveniently located at the edge of Cosham by the motorway. It has a nice size car park with fairly wide spaces. There are outside tables to the front and rear gardens. They have sports on the TV as well as music and darts.
Staff are very friendly and works very hard serving and clearing things up. It seems a very popular pub so it has a nice vibe. There are some nice alcove tables to the left and right of the front door which I think are great and is a great space to socialise with friends and family.
The food is nice. There’s a wide selection of drinks as well as offers on alcohol and cocktails. The price is really reasonable. For that reason you have to take things into context when reviewing.
We were just passing by so it was somewhere nice and clean to get something to eat. We enjoyed it. I would recommend it and we will visit again if we are...
Read moreMyself and my family went here last night, 7 of us it was my daughter’s birthday the staff and Roy couldn’t have been more accommodating, I gave them a cake with the candles to which a staff member came out singing happy birthday, the food was good value and very tasty, I then asked if I could have some foil to wrap pieces of cake up for people who couldn’t manage to eat anymore as they were full up! NOTHING was a bother at all so for all these lovely welcoming people 10/10, we do use this pub on a regular basis for food and drink also my mum is 80years old and she goes for lunch on her own sometimes and the staff and Roy keep an eye on her to see if she needs anything! SO A BIG SHOUT OUT FOR ROY AND HIS...
