⭐ 1 Star – Unacceptable Staff Behaviour and Data Protection Violations
I had an extremely unprofessional and unpleasant experience at Burger King (Port Wy., Ashton-on-Ribble, Preston PR2 2YQ) while collecting a delivery. Upon arrival, I was unexpectedly asked to sign a document, despite never being informed by Deliveroo that such a requirement existed. When I politely inquired about the reason for this signature, a staff member—who was not in uniform, had no name badge, and was wearing a black hoodie—gave an unacceptable and defamatory response, stating, "So you don’t steal the food, that’s why we have to make sure you sign this paper."
This accusation is offensive, degrading, and completely unjustified. Delivery drivers operate professionally and lawfully, ensuring safe and timely deliveries. The staff’s insinuation that drivers are potential thieves is completely unprofessional and defamatory.
Serious Data Protection Breach
Worse still, the clipboard containing drivers' signatures was left unattended in a public area, accessible to anyone, posing a serious data protection risk under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). Sensitive personal data should never be left unsecured. If Burger King is demanding signatures, they have a legal duty to handle this information securely.
Unprofessional & Disrespectful Staff
The assistant manager, instead of resolving the issue, escalated the situation further by raising her voice in front of customers. Instead of providing a polite explanation, she and the staff member in the black hoodie were aggressive, confrontational, and outright rude. This is not how any customer or delivery driver should be treated.
Employees in the UK’s food and hospitality industry are required to wear uniforms and name badges for accountability—yet, this establishment’s staff failed to follow even these basic standards. The lack of professionalism, poor hospitality, and blatant disregard for data protection laws are completely unacceptable.
Final Thoughts
Burger King should immediately train its staff on proper conduct, data protection laws, and basic customer service. If these issues are not addressed, I will escalate this matter to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) for data protection violations and relevant regulatory bodies.
Completely unprofessional and unacceptable experience—do better,...
Read moreArrived in the evening with 2 children in tow. Parked in the very empty carpark and went inside. Restaurant was completely empty except for 2 teenagers - Bizarre considering it was tea time. However we ordered on the screens and found a table. I could only see 2 staff members and the one we spoke with was lovely. Food was brought out soon after which was actually rather good. Portions were decent and it was hot. Kids fed and happy, I got back to the car seeing some man taking loys of pictures of a parking sign, i thought hmm odd and went on my merry way. That's where the nice ends. Why didn't I query the man taking pictures of the parking? Mjst have been the hassle with yhe children. Unbeknown to me, they have Parking Eye. Apparently I need to put my reg in at the till area... There was no tablet that I could see, nor any signs instructing me to do so. Normally im very proactive in putting my reg in to avoid any fines. Never once recieved a fine. So now, the morning after when im going to write a normal review I see someone else has posted the sign in the carpark of such instructions. GREAT. So im waiting to revieve a fine. Can I contest it? Probably not, I only have an email receipt. This makes me not want to return again, why did the staff not inform me to put my reg in (somewhere) anywhere?! Why arent there any signs in the restaurant? Really disappointing and probably why the restaurant was so empty... Have potential customers been once and been fined so arent returning? Who knows. I know I won't be going back. I'll await my...
Read moreThis is a relatively new restaurant with a great view of the docks so has the potential to be really good but it's so badly run.
The power assisted door has not worked since I have been going (that's only one month after opening) and it's a heavy door. Surely it could be fixed or at least a note on the door explaining it doesn't work.
The self-service machines are easy to use and the table service is always good. They used to have self-service drinks machines and gave you cups to fill up yourself but now they don't, they give you the drink, which is probably just as well as there was never any syrups in the machine anyway. It's probably also to stop refills, which was surely the justification for the high drinks prices?
They have lots of issues with stock. I was pleasantly surprised to see Dr. Pepper Zero as an option a few weeks ago but it's been unavailable since. Infact today they had no medium size drinks available as they ran out of cups. I had to order a large instead. Last week they had no lids for the cups.
Burger King's fries are never good at the best of times but today's were cold making them even less edible. Whopper was nice though and is my go to order.
It's such a shame that a nice new restaurant is being badly run. The one in the town centre was shut when this opened and was also badly run so I wonder whether it's just the...
