When an 'Apna' chooses to open up a Restaurant in Preston, calling it Olive of Sinai, you hope for Middle Eastern values, namely from around the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt.
What we found instead is, one of those Pakistani places that has lost not only its identity, but credibility too by catering every known dish to appease every type of customer, like one of those corner shops that tries to sell everything.
I'm talking Poppadoms with Achaar (Best pair of the night), Starter Grills (soft chicken, decent Chicken Tikka and half cooked Lamb Chops), pizzas (decent), matka pizzas (no need whatsoever), Achaari Chicken (pieces of Achaar and Nigella seeds littered throughout, but still tastes mild, bland and flavourless), 1kg Charsi Lamb (no way was this authentic charsi), Chicken Lababdar (Good cheesy chicken curry), chips (decent), Chicken Parmesan (yuck). Every curry more or less tasted the same, because every curry was being prepared with the same starter base gravy. I thought restaurants had moved away from this kind of gimmick a while back. Not this place apparently.
And this is the first time in many years that due to the absolute low grade food, I've had to rush to the restrooms for a full follow through, followed by a 2nd one that blasted my guts out, leaving me poorly for the next few days. Suffice to say, I will never be eating here again - 3/10 and only because the Poppadoms with Achaar was a nice and unexpected combo that had me feeling optimistic at the beginning, half way theough the meal a friend said something positive about the cheesy chicken dish and the toilets were clean...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic restaurant Olive of Sanai, and I must say, it was an experience I won't soon forget. From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted with warm by restaurant owner and their staff, friendly service that set the tone for the entire evening.
The atmosphere was elegant and inviting, with dim lighting and a cozy ambiance that made me feel right at home. The menu was extensive and full of delicious options that ranged from classic dishes to more innovative and unique offerings.
I started with a mouthwatering mango chutney and papadom that was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. I ordered chicken and keema mixed which they cater for me. My entree was equally impressive, cooked to perfection and expertly seasoned. The portions were generous.
Throughout the evening, the staff was attentive without being overbearing, striking the perfect balance between professionalism and friendliness. And the cherry on top of this already stellar experience was the reasonable price tag, making this restaurant an exceptional value.
Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a five-star dining experience in Preston. The food, atmosphere, and service were all top-notch, making this one of the best restaurants I've had the pleasure...
Read moreVery nice place overall. Good variety of food although we only tried the asian stuff. Will be going again to try the pizzas/burgers which should be amazing if the quality of todays food is anything to go by. Walked in and were greeted with a warm welcome from Sohail and were given a table swiftly. The place was fairly busy for a friday evening but the service was excellent and waiting times for food were just right. The starters were piping hot and delicious. Lamb chops were secculent and juicy and kebabs/tikkas were also nice. Malai chicken was reccomended and did not disappoint. Masala fish was a chunky piece but needed slightly more batter/spice. Went for the menu special Charsee Lamb on the bone which was very nice and had a charcoal/bbq note to the taste. Also got a chilli chicken dish which was just as good if not better than the lamb dish. Butter naans were fresh and very soft. Spice levels were just right and allowed taste of the food to come through. Mango lassi was delightful and very enjoyable.
Only negatives for me is portion sizes were slightly small for the cost (2 of each in mix starter and 3 in a portion of chops) and the tea wasn’t great (way too much...
