Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Reading

Went in to get a gift card, coffee and 2 drinks for my children. The member of staff told me I wanted £20 on the gift card (I did not) then took a good few minutes changing it to the amount I requested, then she took my drinks order, told me one drink they didn't make - they did another member of staff said we do that it's there poing to the screen. Then after a long wait and the people in front now having cold Toasties because they had waited so long I get handed some drinks, my hot coffee was given to me iced and with regular milk after I asked for oat milk due to my dairy allergy. Same member of staff from earlier told me I ordered a drink I never ordered. If your going to employee people who do not use English as a first language they really do need to be able to understand the customers well enough because this lady messed up the people in front and behind as well not only that she was telling people people what they want rather than letting...

I went to Costa today through the drive thru. Asked for a cheese and ham "toastie" - what I received was an undercooked handful of slop! It was all stuck to the cardboard packaging, and when I did finally get it out, well the photos speak for themselves don't they - my "toastie" was only cooked on one side. It was literally falling apart, you couldnt hold it in one piece. The cheese inside was just a slimy mess. The ham was like something I'd feed to my cat. Upon feeding back this to a member of staff, her response was that they never cook toasties on both sides, because the inside ingredients would fall out 🤣 funny how, with all of the costa branches I have tried over the years, never have I ever had a toastie that wasn't toasted on both sides! Staff member was rude, abrupt, unhelpful, unprofessional, unpleasant and not at all empathic. Clearly missed the customer service day of training! If I get food poisoning I'll know who to hold...

Love Costa, I have well over 10,000 points with them ...each year! (£100) - ...so I am very loyal indeed.

However, this particular branch (which only recently.opened) are not up to scratch at all.

Staff are slow, very rude, lazy and slow. There's a real hypocrisy regarding Covid hygiene. Their customer service is truky awful. They don't greet you, or speak to you. No eye contact no smiles ...and you can feel and sense the staff would really rather not be there!

I've been here 7 or 8 times, different times of day, it's always the same. Awful, Unfriendly service. It's a real shame.

Most of the other Costa's locally are fabulous, with good customer service. My favourite is Pangbourne - who are absolutely brilliant, with excellent service! I can't believe this particular branch has the same training as others. The staff are miserable and...
