Edited to add: Today I went into the restaurant with my daughter for dinner. We placed our order using the screens inside and began to wait. We were then called over and we’re told that they no longer serve Vegan Burgers. I pointed out that I purchased one approximately a month ago and asked when it changed. Or was it because they couldn’t be bothered to cook it. (The reason I asked this was because I had previously been told by an ex member of staff that if vegan burgers were asked for they often told customers they were out of stock. Apparently because of the time it takes to cook and they may already be busy over a dinner period). The manager stated that he had never sold one at this restaurant and that vegan burgers were often thrown away by him as they went to waste. He then went on to state that although working at kfc for many years, he only worked at that restaurant for 2 weeks. So unsure how he can use the excuse that he had never sold one at this restaurant. I decided to cancel the whole order as I could go over the car park to McDonald’s instead and eat together. I asked for a refund and was told that they could not refund Apple Pay despite that being how I paid for the meal in the first place, and Apple Pay being advertised as a method of payment in the restaurant. The manager stated he could only refund to my actual bank card which I do not carry with me. He had me try 4 times before I explained that he can refund in cash as it was not my fault. Nowhere does it state that the restaurant no longer serves a vegan burger, the in store screens still advertised and took my order, and my payment. I will not be going back to kfc again as they can no longer cater for my family. It is unfortunate as I was due to arrange a large order for up to 50 people for my daughter’s 18th birthday gathering at the beginning of February. I will instead be looking for other local businesses who can cater for our requirements. Two weeks into the job and the new manager has already lost a huge amount of business. Perhaps kfc need to choose their staff more selectively.
Also if that much food is being thrown away then either don’t order in/ cook so much or consider giving it to a charity or a soup kitchen. Apps like Olio are also a great way to avails food waste and landfill while helping those who are less fortunate.
————————————————————— I ordered an 8-piece boneless feast, vegan burger and fillet burger. When we arrived home, both the fillet burger and popcorn chicken from the feast box were missing. I understand that the staff were busy, but that has meant that 2 people haven’t been able to have their chosen meal (1 teen and a young child).
I tried phoning the restaurant numerous times and cannot get through. I was not given a receipt so am now out of pocket. I am really unhappy with...
Read moreNew update: Service continues to be poor, the staff are poorly trained, they seem to have a high turnover of staff who have poor English, and this results in incorrect orders. Additionally the food can be served luke warm which is off putting, and I've noticed that the drinks feel watered down and not that nice to drink so this place continues to be poor. Also the toilets continue to be disgusting, they don't seem to clean them often and there's always something broken.
Edit: Came here the other day and it was the worst experience I've ever had in kfc. The guy "working" the till ignored all the people waiting to place an order. He prioritised deliveroo orders, and self orders. This meant that if you wanted to order at the till you'd never get served as the guy was just interested in processing pre orders. He never acknowledged the queue, threw orders at the customers rudely, never apologised for getting orders wrong. Most of the people queuing, including myself just left after waiting over 15 mins. Absolutely terrible service!
OK kfc, there is a drive through, plenty of seats, it's clean and conveniently located on reading retail park. On match days it gets busy, as does the McDonald's over the road. There are only a couple serving counters and a single pick up point so it can be slow to order and collect. Food is OK, its pretty random whether it's nice or not, often the ice cream machine is broken or certain children's choices are unavailable. The toilets are grim but this normal for fast...
Read moreWe found ourselves here on Sunday lunchtime and because of COVID restrictions we hadn't had a KFC for over a year so we called in here. The drive-through queue was around the building and into the retail park car park so we parked and went in to order. We used the digital screen to order and pay which was ok. Ordering was a bit slow and several others came inside to order/collect. Whilst waiting it was obvious the situation was very busy and the staff were struggling to keep things moving at a decent pace. More people came in saying they had ordered from their phones with their car stuck in the drive-through queue. Our order didn't take long but we had to read our reciept to help staff with the drinks. When we got back to the car we found the order incomplete so had to go back. Extra sauce X3 and a kids ice cream was missing. The staff who served us, although not actually with anyone, ask us to wait when we explained the order was incorrect. Very poor sadly. A second staff member heard this and quickly stepped in to help thankfully. Good recovery. The order was then sorted very quickly. We ate in the car but had no fork/spoon for the coleslaw so that didn't get eaten and we didn't want to go back again. The food was good so that was fine but the customer experience has put us off for possibly another year before we fancy...
