The Jazz Cafe — Restaurant in Reading

Disappointing

While the Jazz Cafe venue itself is decent, my experience was disappointing for several reasons. The kitchen was in a noticeably unclean state, which raised serious concerns about hygiene. We were promised it would be cleaned for the day but it wasn't and we had to ask again and was told it had been cleaned. When showing the lady the the state of the microwave for example there was no apology just a comment of :I'll get it cleaned". Unsure why she thought it was acceptable for a kitchen not to be cleaned before a function.

One of the biggest frustrations was the dishonesty around parking—despite being told the trucks could be moved, that turned out not to be the case.

Even though we paid for the venue, the woman in charge was overly involved in the setup on the day, which felt intrusive and unnecessary. Especially given the fact this was for a wake.

Before payment, she gave a very convincing rundown of what to expect, but unfortunately, the reality did not match the promises. Given the cost and overall experience, I would not...

The Christmas Dinner and music was great. We have visited the Jazz Cafe over quite a number years now, but Saturday's attendance was marred and spoilt. Young girls were parading/dancing on the high tables and a stand unit beside the band. The worst display started when two you men/boys wanted to argue, but then started to fight against two young women. In todays environment, we found this experience just awful, no actual security/deterent was available. The mens bathroom was flooded and clearly a health and safety issue, also a young man was being continually sick...

It’s one of my second Homes these days, I’ve been working with this venue since last year. I must mention ‘Vani’ the manager is the most humble person I’ve met. She comes at odd times for me to open gates so I can do my decorations. Venue is lovely, it’s upstairs so lifts are available. It can accommodate up to 100 people easily.
