A gem of a place! Beautiful, little cosy restaurant with lovely food and lovely staff. We ordered Nepalese Chicken curry, Fulka Rotis, Chilli Momos and Saag Palak. The food was yum. Everything was very fresh and tasted authentic. We also tried their Gurkha Beer, which was surprisingly smooth and light. The chilli momos could have been a bit more spicy though, but still good. The staff were very warm and welcoming. We had a delightful experience. Definitely recommend.

First visit, based on reviews, we gave it a visit. Food and staff were excellent. Dropped one star because it could have been slightly warmer in the restaurant !! We would have probably stayed for more drinks after our meal. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't uncomfortably cold, just could have been slightly warmer. We will be back.

Simple and tasty food. It has food that tastes home-made, you don't feel as if you are eating food from a restaurant. Not cheap with price but Upto mark for the taste of food. Aunty present at the restaurant is very kind & cute . Got veg momos Chicken momos Veg thali Chicken thali Pani puri

One of the best meals out I've had in a long time.

There was something authentic about this restaurant's reviews that made me want to visit it, and I have to say this is a genuine gem of a place that makes a visit to Reading worth it.

Firstly, if you want a posh restaurant, this is not it. This is a family run place, and it is clear that many of the visitors are extended family. The decoration is simple, it is light, but you are not coming here for the view.

However, what you are coming for is precisely that. This restaurant is the place where many Nepalese come for a taste of home. As such, you get two things here:

  1. There are people here in the restaurant, and it feels like a family place, where visitors are accepted and welcomed. and
  2. The food is seriously fantastic. I asked the owner which dishes he'd advise to a family member who was visiting, the things with the best flavour. I don't know the names of the dishes, but he served up a complete feast, and one where every dish had a unique and distinct outstanding flavour, from an incredible version of Nepalese barbecued pork belly to a local version of jerky but of lamb bits that really was to die for.

The flavours were wonderfully both powerful and delicate, abundant and complimentary. There was one dish we had that was really spicy, but that you didn't realise that your mouth was heating up because it was a beautiful slow intensity in the mouth that was a delicious surprise even to my wife, who doesn't normally do spicy.

If you just want an Indian restaurant (a cuisine they also offer and what we had searched for), I am sure they must be good too. But if you want a true gastronomic treat, this is definitely the place. I hope they go from strength to strength.

Dhaulagiri may be the third highest mountain in the Hymalayas, but The Dhaulagiri Kitchen could well have the best...

Went yesterday to eat at this place with family. Good points : Service was prompt. A family friendly place. The owners were friendly. Drawbacks: Not much value for money. The biryani priced around 10 pounds, the chicken curry etc. priced similarly tasted nothing extraordinary. The chicken thali ordered was around 14.99 pounds – did not have anything great, no roti/chapati/puri, the amount of side vegetables provided was miniscule. Certainly, no value for money. It should have been priced at the most around 9 pounds. Overall the bill came to around £58 pounds. The lamb biryani was passable, but certainly not worth the high bill amount. A fair price would be around 7 pounds for that stuff. Have eaten at more fancy air conditioned restaurants with cloth napkins and wonderful atmosphere for the price charged at this restaurant. This restaurant is small and not a fancy place, but the prices are too fancy. The staff is nice and friendly, but certainly very less value for money. Will not be visiting the...

A Delightful Experience at Dhaulagiri Kitchen

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Dhaulagiri Kitchen and was thoroughly impressed with the experience. The food was not only delicious but also promptly served, making for a seamless dining experience.

The standout dish for me was the Chicken Choiwla. It was an amazing dish that tantalized my taste buds with its unique flavors and exquisite preparation. The chicken was cooked to perfection, and the blend of spices used in the dish created a symphony of flavors that left a lasting impression.

The service at Dhaulagiri Kitchen was commendable. The staff were quick, efficient, and attentive to our needs. They ensured that our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable.

Dhaulagiri Kitchen offers a great combination of tasty food and quick service. It's a place I would recommend to anyone looking for a delightful culinary experience. The Chicken Choiwla...
