Don’t Walk, Run to book your children’s birthday party here!!
I am short for words to express my thanks and heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at The World Turned Upside Down in Reading.
Our son had his birthday party here yesterday and every single member of staff here worked diligently throughout a very tough three hours with lots of children with the utmost respect, care and grace.
As anxious party parents nothing felt like too much to ask and all our worries and reservations quickly went away whenever we spoke to a member of staff!
To Ellie, Emma & Ryan, You were the most incredible hosts and brought immense success to this incredibly well structured and planned pizza making party
Ellie, your hosting role and making sure all the children were following instructions and making their pizza well was absolutely wonderful. It really was a tough crowd but you managed this brilliantly!
Emma, thank you so much for organising and collaborating with us to make sure all the kids had the right toppings and there was enough plates and spaces for all and helping to keep things nice and tidy for us all. This was incredibly important and valued as it just helped things move along so well
Ryan, your just an incredible manager/leader/entertainer and you have set an example to all your staff so brilliantly that you have all gone above and beyond and not just with us but in every interaction you have whether it be staff or customer. This was truly inspiring to see. Thank-you for overseeing us all and we will be forever grateful for your extra time with the children doing magic tricks and jokes. They thoroughly enjoyed this!
Lila (Chef), A special heartfelt thank you to you for being the most wonderful, charming and welcoming head chef for the day. Your organisation and ensuring Children’s pizzas were made properly and all their sides were replenished promptly was very very much appreciated. You were ever so kind and gracious to us and put our worries to rest. The pizzas were cooked beautifully and were incredibly yummy!
Mandira: Thank-you for being such a wonderful help to Lila and us and in making sure everything was running smoothly in the kitchen! You were also very kind and re-assuring to us.
We will be forever grateful to you all for this incredible experience you have given us and our son!
We would highly recommend the The World Turned Upside Down for parties as well as general dining and we look forward to going again soon
Thank-you ever so much, we hope to see...

Read moreOk so I order breakfast for delivery from these excellent folks. Let me tell you - pound for pound best breakfast in Reading.
More specifics: Bacon - cooked through properly, no squeeky rind, no. Sausages - tasty and also cooked through properly. Eggs - cooked for despatch and arrive soft, not cooked all the way n grey inside etc. Never. Also - often arrives with some cheeky black pudding also. An unexpected treat as it doesn't say its included on just eat.
Many places do something similar but I get mine to the door for a little over a tenner all-in. They do it all really well, package it nicely and, as a tall chap with a passion for a full English, these folks sort out the hunger in one go. If you're small, this breakfast could do you for the day.
They don't even come up in a search for breakfast! How many folks are missing out?
As I read this over this I'm reminded that so many takeaway places deliver a tragically poor service (badly cooked, low quality ingredients, unsuitable packaging etc etc). It has to be said that these folks are doing everything right AND in the situation where others are doing something similar but badly or for a higher price.
I make sure to thank the staff on my order notes and comments because they really do allow me to get a good start to my day for a reasonable cost that gives me that energy until lunch and keeps ME working too.
Maximum appreciation, respect and thanks. Keep up the outstanding service.
(no photos because I couldn't wait!)
Ps. Black pud like more time in oven or can be fried to get good temp penetration. Hash browns could go into the paper bag with fried slice to ensure crispness for the customer. Both minor system changes and simple to...
