Alright, there is one positive - the staff behind the bar were actually really friendly & a delight. Everything else however shambolic. Brought my mother here for a Sunday on a recommendation...what a mistake. Trying to find a clean table to sit at was a challenge, most had food bits left on/around them, whole onion rings for example. Didn't help no electricity, so had to pick a spot that wasn't too dark, not that that would have made it cleaner...you have to help yourself to cutlery, which was all dirty, even when freshly put out, which bits still on the cutlery. The table was also wet & sticky. I thought the price was good...but when the food came out it was disgusting. 4 of us ordered Sunday Roasts, not one could finish it. It was all stone cold beside the lukewarm meat, which was dry as anything. Despite even the veg being microwaved, it had clearly been left out for a long time. No one could even bring themselves to eat the carrots - yuck!
I feel quite bad, because the woman at the bar was super lovely, but overall...it was just so bad...never go again & seriously ward others of doing so, proper electricity or not.
P.S. Has a pay & display car park just for the one...
Read moreCannot recommend this place I'm afraid. Have been here many times but tonight was particularly bad. I had booked a table for myself and my two adult daughters (although it wasn't particularly busy). The table they had reserved for us was a joke - we were barely able to squeeze between the tables and chairs there was so little room, truly laughable. We sat there initially but after 5 minutes moved ourselves to another table barely 5 paces away at which there was much more room. Why didn't they put us there in the first place? Ordered our food and as usual it took about 50 minutes to be served, even though it wasn't particularly busy - par for the course here I'm afraid. When the meals were served all three meals had something missing - no peas for me or my eldest daughter, no onion rings for my youngest daughter. We've had this happen before, it wasn't a first. I could have complained but by then I'd had enough. Food is always mediocre at best, but cheap. However, for the Tyler's Rest, cheap as it is, you get much less than you pay for. Last time for me, I won't...
Read moreWe normally go to this pub which is reasonably priced and the food is normally really nice. Last night we had to wait two hours for our food and the portions were like kiddy portions as there was only a young chef on his own. We understand the lack of staff thing and was prepared to let it all go. However, after my friends got there meals after two hours, mine didn’t turn up after another 15 minutes. I realised then that they hadn’t a clue that they had forgotten my chicken tikka. By now my friends had finished their meals. I went into the kitchen and asked the chef if he was cooking my curry and he said he didn’t have one on his list. I demanded to see the manager who said she had only started on Monday. I didn’t want to make a fuss at first but enough was enough hence this review. If you do go to the Tyler’s Rest, call them before hand to make sure there is enough staff to save all the inconvenience of waiting two hours for your food and even then you might have to get a...
