We have been crying out for a quality restaurant in Tilehurst for over 30 years. It makes me happy to see and experience such a great place to eat. I have seen reviewers opine the price is a little high but I wholeheartedly disagree with this. You are paying for quality.....if you want a cheap pizza then Wetherspoons will be glad to serve you. I know where I would rather eat and spend money - the main pizzas cost £13-£15 which is the same as Zero Degrees. I also had the most incredible Tomahawk Steak special at £36 recently which would cost you double in other restaurants (see photo). The staff here are fabulous, efficient, and extremely friendly. Just an aside.....my son is a pizza expert and says these are the best he has eaten. Good luck to Simon, Augusto and the rest of the Team.....you are smashing it!

Nice to have a restaurant out of town in the village of Tilehurst. Staff were very friendly and were trying hard - they had just opened so everything was new to them. Food was nice. It would be fairly expensive without the two for one offer. I think to get locals returning regularly, they need to be more consistent with their offers as some deals were only on particular drinks, cocktails, pizzas etc. There was also different information on social media vs what they said in the restaurant which was confusing. Many cocktails not available and served regular Coke rather than Diet Coke which we asked for.

Vesuvio is a newly opened (June 23) pizzeria located on Norcot Road in Tilehurst. The venue itself is well presented and stylishly set out. The staff are welcoming and friendly. It’s fairly busy so booking a table for Friday and Saturday evenings is a good idea. The menu is simple and straightforward. I had the Caprese di Burrata for starter - very good. I had the pepperoni pizza for main served up on wooden pizza board. Yes a very good pizza. The house white wine is also quite good. All in all a good place for dining out with friends. I think they also offer takeaway. Recommended.

Great to have this type of restaurant local, and nice friendly staff. In my opinion though I would say the dishes were overpriced by approximately £2, if your charging top prices the food and service needs to be on point. The food was ok and enjoyable but mediocre, the service was a little confused with main dishes brought out before clearing starters, and replacing cutlery, I also ordered a beer which never came. I know this is not a big deal and wouldn’t be a problem but if your paying top prices you expect top experience. That all been said I don’t want this to be seen as a negative review as I wish them well, I’ll probably go again in a few months once they’ve settled in to decide if it will be somewhere to go or not. At the price I would class this as a special treat rather than a regular spot, but if I was going to be treating myself or others I would probably go further a field, if the price was lower I would consider this to be more of a regular visit as it is within walking distance. In summary bring the standard up to the price or the price down to...

Very disappointed with our experience at Vesuvio this evening. We’d booked a table for 7pm & on arrival was told the table was outside.. in the middle of November? We explained this isn’t acceptable so after a 5min wait the table plan was shuffled so we could sit inside which was good. The cocktail was poor, very quickly made which wasn’t blended properly. The starter was lovely, but as the evening went on more & more people arrived. To which, so many people arrived there were around 20 people standing around our table whilst trying to eat. We had to get up to let people past our table whilst we were eating the starters. In fairness they had 3 large groups in attendance to celebrate birthdays. But when the mains arrived it just got worse. Very high amount of Parmesan cheese on both of our pasta dishes which completely ruined the dish (we weren’t asked if we’d like Parmesan, which is usual a given). We both couldn’t finish our meals, also couldn’t wait to leave. We swiftly asked for the bill and got...

We've been here a few times now and the pizza is so good. I judge a pizza on the quality of the dough and this doesn't disappoint. We had dessert and I know we liked it but I can't remember what it was after all the wine!

They'd very recently expanded and we were in the new bit so the service was quite slow as they hadn't yet got all the tables mapped onto the system, but it was a really hot day and we were grateful to be able to sit in the new bit, which is nicely done out.

It's so nice to have a really good Italian in Tilehurst, we are sadly lacking in decent restaurants that aren't curry houses. This is our go-to place when we're not up for venturing into Reading and don't want to drive. We had the house wine, it was ok but a bit thin, I think we'll have the Malbec next time. Definitely recommend if you like...
