Zyka — Restaurant in Reading

Customer service is appalling! Would have given 0 stars!! I placed an order over the phone today. When I asked what a special fried rice was, the guy said to me ‘peas and stuff’ When I asked him what he means by ‘stuff’ he did not like the question, however said eggs and peas. When asked how long would it take to deliver he said over an hour. I waited for an hour and 20 mins to call again to find out where the food was. The same guy picks up and instead of giving me the status of the delivery he says ‘told you would be over an hour’. I said yes I do understand that but would like to know how long should I have to wait for! Then the unbelievable thing happened! He asked me to calm down!!! Like seriously! I was not even hyper to start with for him to calm me down! Anyway the calm down comment really riled me up! I said I don’t have to calm down and he started saying something which I did not pay any attention to and I cut the call. I made another call and I said I would like to speak to the manager! The same rude guy picked up and I can hear him say to someone that I want to speak to the manager and I can hear the manager saying in the background I don’t have the time now and find out what it is about! Finally someone else picked the phone, I explained the whole situation and obviously he apologised said they were extremely busy today etc etc, when I asked him whether he was the manager he said ‘sort of’. He said the driver is on the way! Placed the order at 17:50, now it’s 19:27, still waiting for my food! Wonder whether it will turn up or not! So if you are really hungry think twice! Was looking forward to going to zyka all week only to be disappointed. The staff was nice but did not do a good job on explaining their self properly. The restaurant was very full we was not aware we had to make reservations. The staff who served us. Explained their is 20 minutes wait and we all miss understood each other because me and my husband heared their will be a free table in 20 minutes so me and hubby decided to wait and said this to the staff. After sitting down for almost 10 minutes the staff then made it clear we had less than 20 minutes to eat. Who can eat that fast?" Deffenetly not me. I understand it was very busy and guy was rushed off his feet but please pay attention to costumers and explain properly because me and my hubby keep going over it and we are 100% sure the guy said "if we can wait 20 minutes their will be a free table" Not very happy as we don't eat out much due to work and kids first night out alone in a long time. I came here 2 years ago. Finally felt brave enough to open up and leave a review. The food was amazing. Probably the best Indian food I’ve ever had (I’m Indian). The extremely handsome and fine looking gentleman wearing round glasses served me with class and the upmost respect. I was very impressed. Then the food arrived. I ordered Salmon Jalfrazy. Upon first glance I was taken aback by the sheer presentation of the salmon jalfrazy. The tenderly smoked, finely season salmon laid there covered in a rich oozing jalfrazy sauce resting on a bed of soft white rice. It was perfect. I picked up my spoon filled it with a chunk of salmon and put it in my mouth. As the juices flowed through my tastebuds, I was in awe. It was an out of this world experience I definitely will never forget for years to come.
