Patenga Restaurant and Takeaway — Restaurant in Redditch

Just finished my take away from Patenga and I'll admit, absolutely beautiful food! I ordered a chicken Rogan Josh, chicken Jalfrezi, pilau rice and a keema naan. The Rogan josh was a beautiful mild curry with loads of flavour, the jalfrezi was the same but had the kick you expect from a hotter dish and did not dissapoint on flavour. The rice was perfectly cooked and wasn't sticky or gloopy. The bread was spot on too, slightly small compared to other restaurants but it made up for that with plenty of filling where as other restaurants can hold back on filling, this was well executed 👌👍 will 100% order from this restaurant again and will recommend. Phoned to booked a table for two. When we arrived we where give a make shift placed table, that made you feel you are being watched by the whole restaurant. This was not a normal placed table, but one I feel was thrown out to squeeze us in. While looking at the menu we are offered Poppadoms which we ordered. Then when the Poppadoms are brought to the table the waiter then explained the restaurant is bring your own bottle. That divot of information would have been good when we phone to book, not when sat at the table. The restaurant was to cold, so much so we had to ask for the air conditioning to be turned off. My girlfriend sat the whole time there with her coat on. Why is the air conditioning on in February?

Having lived in Redditch for over 20yrs, the biggest challenge I’ve found for this type of food is lack of consistency. You find a place, you order, it comes out brilliant and you order the same again, only to find it’s not so good. First time ordering from here, Chicken Tikka Madras and Peshwari naan. Good depth of flavour to the Madras and, for me, a good amount of heat. If I was being really nit-picky, a touch less tomato and it would have been perfect, otherwise, that doesn’t detract from the service or the quality. Naan was delicious. Well filled and hot.
