Dijo Cafe & Deli — Restaurant in Reigate and Banstead

I had such high hopes for my breakfast visit this morning and it was a huge disappointment. No hello / welcome from any of the staff and no thank you or apology for long wait. We waited an extremely long time for waitress to come and take our order. Not even drink orders taken whilst we wait for food. She was extremely abrupt and as though she had better places to be. Food arrived and I had no cutlery to eat it with. Sat waiting a short while for that to arrive. A little warm welcome would have gone a long way for me. Traditional cafe serving good food and excellent coffee. I dropped in for a quick brunch and ordered eggs royale and a white coffee. Portuguese cafes usually serve good coffee and this was no exception. The eggs royale had a generous portion of smoked salmon and the eggs were nice and runny. It could have been better with a bit more salad and dressing, but the price was good and I'd order again. The atmosphere has retro feel without being pretentious, it was probably decorated this way decades ago and it has definitely kept it's charm. Top place - spent all morning here today working and scoffing my face, while my car was getting serviced over the road. The people here were so nice and helpful (even gave me a power cable and plugged in my laptop). I don’t live nearby, so will likely only see them twice a year when I’m getting my cars looked at… but I look forward to that time and watching the people go in and out today, seems like a local gem.
