Nothing is more horrible as customer than when you use a business in good faith as a genuine customer, only to be stung with a malicious Parking Charge Notice (basically a fine) by that establishment and their cowboy parking management company .
Sadly that's exactly what has happened here, and if you are not aware they will likely do to you too!
I genuinely hate having to give these types of reviews against peoples businesses. But sadly some terrible reviews are honest and deserved.
This is a pub car park in a small town in Surrey that genuine customers shouldn't & wouldn't normally be expected to pay to use. Also there is no good apparent reason for the venue to have such measures in place at the time I visited ( early evening). From this it is very apparent they do not value their customers and seem intent in looking to rip them off.
What I didn't realise in my tired and hard pressed state after a busy day, was that apparently this horrible pub's car park is equipped with very discreet signage (probably the legal bare minimum ), and a small black and easily miss able looking parking meter tucked away in the corner. This is also with no advice, friendly reminders or warnings given by staff at the bar etc about any inappropriate parking charges directed by the venue to financially target their customers.
So be aware if you suffer the misfortune of visiting this pub, that this car park is enforced in such a way by the Kings Head and their cowboy parking enforcement firm. This very much seems to be done in a cynical way to look to target their genuine customers with totally unreasonable charges and fines.
Also be aware that the cowboy parking company ( presumably as directed by the Kings Head as their client) will then look up your personal details from the DVLA to send you intimidating and forceful letters demanding payments for up to £100. This degrading treatment and abuse of its customers is also presumably endorsed and supported by the Kings Head.
In addition to this, I found that the food was of poor to barely acceptable quality, drinks were expensive, and the staff and service levels were generally appalling. I remember there were off duty staff members ( and their friends /guests) raising their voices at each other and squaring up to fight in the corner of the restaurant. Which was ultimately why we left.
Rule number 1 of hospitality surely is to appreciate your customers and make them feel valued. The Kings Head, Horley clearly does not care for that. Based on this experience and this deliberate and cynical parking rip off endorsed by the venue. It can only be said in my honest view that the Kings Head is an absolutely horrible establishment with a terrible customer experience. I would very strongly advise against using this pub, and I suggest you do too. Needless to say myself and frequently pub going locally based friends won't be returning.
Horley and East Surrey has many wonderful pubs, so avoid this disgraceful establishment and find a much nicer pub nearby. Maybe one that values customers and doesn't treat them in this disgusting manner for quick, and devious...
Read moreLooks really nice, menu seems good but the atmosphere, the staff and food leave a lot to be desired. Not even a busy night, only 1 other table eating food and the bar staff and waiting staff didn't seem to care at all about our booking, we had to chase to be served and order food, the starters were nice but very simple and not what was advertised in the menu and the mains were a huge disappointment. My "signature salad" was so basic and unpleasant, it included raw broccoli which was so cold I was convinced it was frozen, I asked for them to advise why this was £10 for a small bowl of bagged leaves and a dash of sundries tomatoes, so she bought me a bowl of cold veggies and a small cup of dip, all of which were also not as it was advertised in the menu. My friends rump of lamb was over cooked and very tasteless. We waited for a while to be offered more drinks, and as no one came to us we had to ask for additional drinks, no one checked on us, we asked for another drink and the waitress looked at us like we were asking for her to pay the bill, she then disappeared only to come back with a pad for 2 drinks so we decided to leave and get a dessert of the way home. Won't be...
Read moreVisited the Kings Head Pub in Horley Sunday 8th September 2019 for the first and unfortunately the last time....!!! I had the lamb shank with the alleged roast dinner...if you could call it that...!! The meat on its own did taste lovely. The so called roast potatoes would have been lucky to have seen the inside of an oven...they tasted and looked like part boiled and finished off in the deep fryer jobs.. Pretty Awful as you can imagine. As for the service, well let me enlighten you...Absolutely Diabolical ..!!!.including incomplete, messed up & forgotten orders. Dessert menus being handed out before the mains had even been correctly delivered, the list goes on etc...!! Everything about the the whole service from the kitchen to the table was just completely sloppy and unprofessional. I seriously doubt that any member of staff or management have ever heard of "team work' or...
