Nipped in for a pint and a bite to eat on a Thursday evening. Never again. Beer hadn't been pulled all day, very poor San Miguel after 3 attempts, not a great start.. Number of items on the menu not available... Never a good sign, especially just before a bank holidays weekend.. Sat down and waited for the meal, pretty quick and the food was piping hot... Then had the misfortune of having to listen to some big fat sweaty heart attack waiting to happen ignorant peasant who had just staggered out of the gents describing his bowel movements to the entire bar and staff like it was some badge of honour.. They were lapping it up as though he was a professional stand up comedian, all except one of his friends who so disgusted with his story he came staggering past our table wretching.. He then continued to make reference to his toilet visit at full volume, commenting on the chocolate muffins for sale on the bar, saying they looked familiar to his recent adventure.... Add to that the constant belching... don't forget, this was food serving area. Back to the meal, my steak was very fatty, almost a third of it was inedible, the wifes curry was above average in her words. The portions were quite large, it was definitely quantity over quality. I've drank and had food at this place a number of times over the last few years, this was by far the worst. It has changed hands quite a few times recently but if these are the standards that this place is now setting then I can see it changing hands again quite soon. A very unenjoyable experience we will not be going back anytime soon .
Just to be clear, I am a local who loves to eat and drink at local establishments and pay...
Read moreBeen here a couple of times now and hoping they can fit us in this month for our daughter’s birthday, love that this pub has warm lights that may sound a random thing to put in a review but to me it’s not, the lighting made it feel really homely to most pubs I have been in with those awful bright lights I’m ur face (which can make you look like Quasimodo 🤣) The guy who runs the pub is absolutely amazing, I have only met the lady once for a few minutes but she seemed lovely too, I cannot say enough about this guy he made us feel like we was at home (who knows I may come down next time in my pyjamas) and had known him forever & Im not a social person I don’t like crowded places but I feel totally comfortable coming here, it was honestly the best night we have had as a family in ages, he asked us if everything was ok but didn’t harass us, to me this is definitely the job this guy is born for can’t say enough good about him!! Food was absolutely gorgeous, good sized portions, priced well, food was served hot so you know it’s not been sat there so well done to the chefs it can’t be an easy job!! FANTASTIC...
