The Wine Press: A Gem by Hollingworth Lake ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nestled by the picturesque Hollingworth Lake, The Wine Press in Littleborough is an exceptional gastropub offering a delightful dining experience. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot for both casual meals and special occasions. The recently refurbished interior combines modern aesthetics with traditional charm, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re seated inside by the fireplace or enjoying the stunning lake views from the outdoor seating, the setting is always pleasant and relaxing. The menu at The Wine Press is impressive, featuring a wide variety of dishes that cater to all tastes. On my visit, I had the lamb shank, which was cooked to perfection with the meat falling off the bone. The chicken and chorizo dish was also excellent, although I would have preferred the sauce on the side. The Thai curry is another standout, packed with flavorful ingredients and expertly prepared. For those with dietary restrictions, The Wine Press is very accommodating, offering vegan and gluten-free options. The staff are attentive, friendly, and always ready to provide recommendations, ensuring a superb dining experience. The location of The Wine Press is ideal, with beautiful views of Hollingworth Lake enhancing the overall experience. Parking is convenient, with a small car park adjacent to the pub and additional parking nearby, making it easily accessible. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a drink with a view, a hearty meal, or a cozy evening by the fire, The Wine Press offers it all. It’s a must-visit for anyone in the area. The experience wasn't the greatest. Got served quite quickly to be fair but the waiter he was very awkward and made me and my partner feel very uncomfortable. He took our order which he wrote down but still got in wrong. We weren't asked if anyone has any good allergies or food intolerances. My partner had a gluten intolerance and ordered glueten free ciabtta with cajan chicken. The chicken was sliced packet chciken and not fresh. When the order came the man gave us our food and my parenter asked if the bread was gluten free as it didn't look it. He said he'd check. He came back and said it wasn't. So if my partner didn't ask she'd of ate it. By time her food came I'd already eaten mine so we weren't able to eat together. The restaurant side of the pub was empty as we were the only people dining so I don't know why it took so long to come. We weren't offered a free drink or anything. My partner hardly ate any of hers as she said it was making her feel ill and in fact was ill that night. The chicken strips I ordered wasn't fresh just tasted bland and frozen. my daughters chicken nuggets tasted and had a strange aroma too them luckily she didn't want them, I wouldn't even give them to my cat. Not once did anyone come over and ask us how our meal was or if we needed anything else. Obviously its pub, but it was just not edible at all and we all felt ill night. For the price what we paid I did not expect frozen food and incorrect orders the best thing about the experience was the glass of coke and leaving.

Went for some food last Tuesday evening, found a space on the free car park We've not been here for a couple of years, but still dog friendly inside and outside Large choices on the menu, but absolutely no atmosphere in the pub. Maybe it was because it was a weekday night ,not sure, but it's a big pub, and it was quite empty It's probably busier at weekends, and when the weather is good, it is hard to get a table outside We ordered the cheese and onion pie ,fries, and baked beans. It was very tasty and hot, also the rag pudding , fries, seasonal vegetables ( microwaved), and onion gravy. Rag pudding was excellent full of chunks of meat, hot, and very moreish, vegetables were okay Not much choice of ales, though a decent pint of Black Sheep bitter and good range of J2O. Reasonable prices and food came quickly

(Gave me food poisoning) First of all this place does not deserve a 4 star rating food wise. The starters were good don’t get me wrong however the main courses were a massive let down. To start off with when my food arrived my Yorkshire pudding was squashed into frisbee like shape and was very tough, one of the waiters even said that it was appalling and shouldn’t of been brought out of the kitchen like that, if a waiter is saying that surely the chef should know not to send it out it’s common sense. In result of this i was brought out another Yorkshire pudding which turned out to be frozen in the middle and we soon found out that all of our Yorkshire puddings was frozen in the middle. When we told the waiter she said she would see what the problem was, she then came back and said the chef had run out of Yorkshire pudding so he decided to go upstairs and get some he already and and heat them up, surely it’s not that hard to heat up a Yorkshire pudding. Continuing to eat my meal it just wasn’t getting any better, my meat was over cooked and was very chewy l, my veg was still hard and my potatoes wasn’t cooked for long enough. Overall the Waiters are a 10/10 but in terms of the food 2/10 i could of easily of made the same food at home and it would of turned out better. Also desserts, were definitely not homemade store bought and microwaved , not to sure why the prices are that high but it definitely doesn’t reflect the quality of food. Ever since I was there two days ago I’ve had stomach cramps and can’t get off the toilet. 100% do not recommend. It’s only a popular place because of the lake, definitely wouldn’t survive in a less...
