Battle Kebabs, Fish & Chips Cafe Restaurant — Restaurant in Rother

We ordered from Battle kebabs on 25/03/2022 we were told it would be a long wait of a hour. The food still arrived 15 minutes late. The food was poor quality my children only ate half of their meals (chicken nuggets and chips) and later were complaining of stomach aches. The order was also missing 2 pots of garlic mayo and when we called the restaurant they said they would send us some more out within 15 minutes however it took 45 minutes. When the sauce arrived it was not garlic mayo it was burger sauce. We called back to complain again this time we spoke to the manager who was very rude and disrespectful. We asked for a refund for the pots of sauce they had charged us for and the cold food we could now not eat. He asked us if we could not just eat it without the sauce and told us to just reheat the food if he was to send the correct sauce out this time. We said it was ridiculous and unhygienic to reheat the food so we asked for a refund to which the manager agitatedly demanded the food back untouched. We agreed as we had not eaten the food we wished to be reimbursed for. This clearly annoyed the manager who reluctantly agreed to bring us a refund and collect the untouched food. Unfortunately no one came to give us our money back and it seems Battle Kebabs are content to rip us off the money we paid for items that never came let alone the ruined meal. Save your health and mental harmony by avoiding this terrible restaurant with terrible service...

OK...so the food is great, the fish and chips are made with crispy batter and fresh fish. I am editing this review because I think they deserve a special mention for how lovely they are as people. Last night I ordered collection and then immediately discovered my car had broken down. They changed the order to delivery and even though I had said I would meet the delivery driver at the end of the track (its a hard to find farm they have not delivered to b4) I was amazed when 45 mins later a really apologetic young man knocked on the door and handed me piping hot food. I apologized for the original mix up and he not only tried to refuse a tip but offered to jump start my car while he was there (I gratefully refused as they were really busy). Not only is the food always fabulous but they are just a wonderful community...

Utter bandits. Despite phoning a large order in a day ahead, with a reminder call on the day, they still failed to deliver it to me as they'd said they could. An hour and a half AFTER I was supposed to be feeding a large group of hungry friends and family at a campsite, instead I had to drive there and hurry the order along to collect it. I honestly believe that if I hadn't gone there in person, I'd never have received it. In the place itself I saw not one iota of contrition. I was treated as if this error was my fault. Virtually no eye contact or communication. I was actually met with what I think was anger and frustration when I asked for a discount. Weird thing is, food was fine. Anyway, my strong advice would be to look elsewhere if you actually want to...
