Unfortunately we were very disappointed with our visit, despite being recommended by family members who visited Pebbles for lunch, a while ago. I have a gluten allergy and discussed this with the waitress. She noted it down on our order and asked if i was coeliac, to which I confirmed I was. I ordered the mussels as a main. To cut a long story short, the mussels were served to me with normal bread on my plate and it was only because i double checked at the point they were put on the table, that we discovered this was the case. As a coeliac, being gluten free isn't a fad diet and this would have made me unwell for a few days. My main then disappeared for about 15 minutes, so we are unsure if there was anything else they needed to changed to make the dish gluten free. When they brought my meal back to the table, it was luke warm and my husband had eaten half of his lunch. The mussels also hadn't been debearded, which was unpleasant and not something I would expect in a seafood restaurant. They knocked the mussels off the bill but it didn't make up for the overall ruined experience and very nearly being made ill for a few days! The experience didn't make us feel like we would want to return. My husband enjoyed his salt and pepper squid starter but said the fish and chips main wasn't nice. Pale and soggy batter on the fish and the chips tasted like oven chips, which I can see has also been mentioned on a previous review. Nice outdoor setting on...

We visited Pebbles with my parents, partner, and our 19-month-old baby. As any parent will understand, it’s not reasonable to expect a toddler to wait too long for food, so we placed our order promptly when drinks were taken. Nearly 50 minutes passed with no sign of our meals. During that time, my father ordered another drink which never arrived—we had to ask for it twice more before it finally came. When I inquired about our food, we were told the order hadn’t even been sent to the kitchen. The explanation given was that a new staff member had made the mistake, but frankly, that's not acceptable—new staff should be properly trained and supported by management.

We decided to leave and paid for the drinks we did receive. There was no real apology, no offer to make it right, no gesture of goodwill. To make matters worse, when we asked for the bill, it included items we never received.

This was at least my fifth visit to Pebbles, and sadly, the standard has noticeably declined. While I can tolerate slow service, my child understandably cannot—and she was remarkably patient despite being left hungry for nearly an hour.

Regrettably, we won’t be returning. Based on our experience, I’d recommend exploring other dining...

Pebbles is one of our local restaurants. We go there every now and again for a treat. It is expensive compared to everywhere else in Bexhill-on-Sea but for good reason!!!! The outdoor seating is amazing, with perfect sea views with protection from the wind from the glass. We could sit there for hours and hours people watching.

The food is absolutely amazing....we have never had a bad meal there. The food is outstanding... Today we had the crab nachos.... Which we always have as they are so delicious........ We then had the specials of Lobster Roll and Plaice, both of which were delicious...... We then managed to squeeze in pudding and my goodness is it worth trying to squeeze a pudding in..... Eton Mess Cheesecake and Jamaican Ginger Cake..... I have never tasted anything as good as that Jamaican Ginger Cake ... Simply superb!!!!!!

The great thing about Pebbles is that they always mix up the menu so you always get something new if you want it.

Fantastic service.... It really is a fantastic experience that we would highly recommend to anyone..... We are lucky enough to live round the corner but well worth...

The fish gujons came cold so had to be asked to be reheated twice!! Not happy and nothing special. Chips were not great. Too thick. More like potato sticks than chips. The mushy peas were great though😂👏. The ice cream sundae was amazing in taste, but the worst part was finding a large chunk of plastic in it👍. Lovely! but the experience a 5/10. Wouldn't return again, but great they did a gf option. The rest of my family had fish and chips, one came hot and the other cold! No ones surprised! The burger was average, nothing special. The crab salad was very small. A handful of leaves and a small chunk of bread, nothing in comparison to the fish and chips. Very disappointed and my mum felt ill the next morning so maybe was the crab. The desserts were again..average. The best was the ice cream, but how can you really mess up on that?. (Well apart from the plastic) The best part was getting the unic chocolate pebbles with the dessert. This is a lovely, quirky touch and tasted lovely! Overall the restraunt is very understaffed and service is incredibly slow. Absolutely awful.

A lovely setting with good views, a real pity that service and food did not live up the setting. Recommended as a good place for a leisurely lunch, it ws leisurely as the service was so bad. Long time between order and delivery of both starters and mains then we were forgotten about, leaving plates with us before clearing mains and leaving us with dess⁰ert menus - we should have quit at this point. But we waited for a considerable amount of time for orders to be taken a perfunctory apology for the delay which was not sincere. The food was moderate to poor, and the fish and chips were the worst I have had at the seaside for years the oil used clearly had been used for some else which had a lingering curry taste - awful. Ceasar salad with prawns, crayfish and crab, somewhat surprised to find chilli in the crab meat over powering the dish. Ordered Eaton Mess as dessert and this was a disk of meringue with a heap of off white cream, and a drizzle of raspberry couli as such missed the norm for this desert
