Great food, speedy service!
We had a fantastic meal here before a show at the De la Warr theatre. I would add, if you do make the excellent decision to dine here make sure you book, the restaurant was packed out with tables being turned over pretty fast.
Our table was booked for 6:15 and we booked for four of us. A fantastic meal for all 4 of us with 3 pizzas and 1 pasta dish. The food was delivered fast, we can't have been waiting any longer than 15 minutes after ordering. We also enjoyed some water and a couple of 0.0% Beers which were provided with ice cold glasses, a small thing but made the beers taste so much better and just an overall great small thing to boost your dining experience.
The food was simply outstanding, the Diavola Pizza I enjoyed was marvelous. The heat from the chilis and Nduja was perfectly warm but not overpowering. The spicy salami / peperoni was well sliced and the proportion of items on the pizza was great. Another person at the table enjoyed the Cannibal meat pizza, again an excellent pizza and still a 5/5 meal, but just one minor comment being, there was so much meat on it to the point it was almost too much meat in comparison to pizza proportion (Worth noting the pizza is described as Cannibal and contains a high number of varieties of meat, so it was to be expected really, but just a minor comment). The pasta dish was also deemed superb with no comments at all. All meals thoroughly enjoys and again I cant re-iterate, all rated 5/5!
The cost of the meal for four mains, two beers and two soft drinks plus two coffees came to a total bill of roughly £70, not bad for a great meal out for four people!
The staff were very fast and efficient, the restaurant was extremely busy and all waiters / waitresses were running round to cover all tables, our only comment was at the end we couldn't get anyone's attention to pay and did go up to ask for the bill, which still never came. We still had great service and as mentioned the staff were extremely busy.
Overall an excellent meal out enjoyed by all and we left with smiles on faces! I would...
Read moreI have to say that we had a very disappointing experience at Rustico Bexhill last night. There were 11 of us and I do appreciate that's quite a lot of people, also I took into account that it was a peak time to eat- 730 on a Saturday night, but don't take the booking if you can't cope is my opinion! I was very surprised to find that there was only 1 waitress to cover the whole restaurant so I did feel very sorry for her-she was obviously very stressed! We finally ordered our starters-we were told to order our mains after! I found the menu very limiting as I am following the slimming world plan very strictly and didn't want any carbs. Having requested a side salad with no dressing for my starter, after waiting an hour it arrived with Olive oil on it. I politely asked if i could have one with no dressing and was given literally a plate that had salad leaves bunged on it with nothing else-when i queried about tomato or onion i was told they were already pre mixed with oil! We were finally able to order our mains once we got our starters and I ordered meatballs in tomato sauce on its own. I must say once it finally arrived (another 1hr later) it was delicious as was everybody else's meal. My friends son did however order his pizza without mushrooms and yes of course it came with them on-yet another wait, for another pizza! All in all it was a very long & disappointing eve although I must say it was nice of them to sing happy birthday to my friends elderly dad, even then they ignored the fact that it was also her sister in laws birthday! Wont be recommending...
Read moreThis restaurant presents itself as down to earth, basic but tasty food. For this reason, I suppose, red wine is served in a water glass and tin plates are used to add authenticity. Not a problem if the food is good but, sadly, it is only very average. My cheesy bites were distinctly low on cheese and after we had sorted out muddle with the order of dishes, our main courses were also disappointing. My lasagne had no richness of flavour which may have been due to a lack of meat. My companions chicken dish came with a salad which, whilst it had good points, was loaded with extra limp leaves to the point of exhaustion. We then moved on to what was a sort of rum baba, but lacking in rum (although the pastry was very light) and for me, a chocolate ice which has clearly come straight from the deep-freeze and needed a pick-axe to eat. I am not in favour of serving melted ice cream, but there must be a happy medium. Overall, service was quick and friendly (although I am not a "guys" sort of person) but the bareness of the interior does make it rather noisy. For the money, it wasn't bad, but I wish they could add a bit more flavour...
