upon arrival I was greeted by a friendly lady who was quick to seat us and explain about the shortened menu due to the recent pandemic. the pub was set out nice, the bar area had screens for.coronovirus and the guidelines seemed to be in place. we was left with menus and was told a waitress would come for our order soon. 10minutes passed then the waitress came, we ordered 5 drinks and was told to look at the menus shed be back to take our food order. 20minutes passed before she came back to take our order... still no drinks. the drinks came as we was placing our food order, but one drink was missing. this was quickly corrected. After waiting a further 35 minutes our food came out, to which we were not impressed. the waiter fetched the childs meal and one adult meal but forgot the gravy the 5 minutes later came back with another meal but the meal was wrong so he took it back and then 5minutes later fetched the remaining 3 meals by this point the first 2 meals were almost cold. then he went back to the kitchen for the gravy and we heard the chef screaming at the poor waiter like it was his fault the chef had done the food wrong. he then returned with gravy and the remaining meal. only to find they had scraped off the rice and added chips (my son has a nut allergy so this is clearly dangerous, luckily the rice didnt contain nuts) we also noticed that on one of the mixed grills which wed ordered beans the chef had put peas then scraped them off and left a few on the plate and covered it with beans. the second mixed grill there was egg shell in the egg which my friend choked on. the meat on both the grills was un edible it got left. it was really chewy. we made a complaint to the waitress who got the supervisor who couldnt apologise enough for the mistakes etc and offered us free deserts. i was a little disappointed in her approach towards the allergy, in which she stated they had allergy tablets on stand by so hell be fine, I was also left shocked how she also explained the reason the chef shouts at the waiter is because they're brothers, either way its no excuse for a chef to speak to a waiter that way, especially where customers and children can hear it. very unpofessional! after the plates were taken away we was left 20 minutes before our desert order was taken and then a further 31minutes for the deserts to come. the fudge cake was dry, the kids brownie was hard and the ice cream sundaes were about the only the thing worth eating. thank you for our day out but unfortunately I doubt we will be returning as we were left very unsatisfied, which is a shame because I've eaten here a few times in the last 15years and never had a problem before. just the last 2 times I've been I've noticed the food has gone really down hill. its like the chefs are there for the money and...
Read moreOrdered our food and drinks on the app, requested 2 different flavoured bottles of cider and they asked us if we wanted mixer with the gin. Said we hadn't ordered gin and it was cider, she didn't really know what was going on or what we had ordered so we changed to another cider for ease as she said it didn't exist.
Asked for starter to come with the main, a lady came out 2 minutes later and asked if we wanted starter with main, we again confirmed we did. A couple of minutes after that they brought the starter out on its own, we asked where the main was and she went to the kitchen and said it wasn't ready yet. We explained again that we wanted it together so she said she would bring more with our main.
15 minutes later the main came out, burger and chips, steak and chips and the starter. The steak was so full of gristle I couldn't even cut through it but we tried to eat it anyway, it was inedible so we left the whole steak. The starter of chicken wings were so over done and dry. We ended up having half a burger and chips each. When we complained the older lady looked as if she was about to punch us and took the steak plate away and said she would tell the manager. No one came over to our table so when we were leaving we advised we wanted a refund for the steak and they again seemed angry with us about it but did refund us for steak and wings.
The place looked nice and was quiet, they accommodated us with no booking as there were hardly any people there but even still, I don't think we will be going...
Read moreOur visit was, in a way, both good and bad, but probably mostly bad. We went on Saturday at tea time which we expected to be busy anyway. Ordered our food, was told that the food would take 45 minutes... A bit longer than normal but okkkkaaaaaaay. 45 minutes pass, still no sign of the food. An hour passed, deputy manager came to our table and told us that our food will be out next. Several dishes come out from the kitchen after she said that, still no food. She then comes back saying that they're just waiting for the steaks to cook properly (which, by the way, wasn't cooked correctly anyway. Asked for a medium well, got a very chewy and dry well done). So, deputy manager offers our table complimentary drinks (thanks). At this point we'd all had about 3-4 glasses of what we were all drinking. Almost full by now just from the drinks. Then an hour and a half after we ordered, food finally arrived (hallelujah!). One didin't have the onion rings, one didn't have the pulled pork and one had a steak too done, as mentioned earlier. But deputy manager was really nice and friendly althroughout this. Kudos to her though for being so composed. Even gave us a free dessert in the end. Thank you for the free drinks and dessert but honestly, you shouldn't have told us 45 minutes if that wasn't the case and shouldn't have told us that our food was coming out next when it wasn't. So really food was okay, Becca was great but the food just wasn't worth the...
