Unfortunately what we got was a very disappointing evening meal.
We had issues with different types of fish being mixed up on 2 people’s plates and the overall quality of the food served was not up to the usual standard.
Once staff were made aware they took the incorrect meals back but forgot a portion of mushy peas which needed to be taken away to be warmed up and served again with the fresh meals.
They brought the new mushy peas after they brought the replacement meals, resulting in yet even more waiting.
2 of us finished our meals well before the others due to the mistake and subsequent delay.
Upon paying, the front of house never asked how our meal was/was everything alright etc. and instead just stated how much the bill was.
I mentioned the upset caused and how it was on a special occasion and not up to the usual standard and couldn’t help but feel disappointed.
Their response? “We can only apologise”.
At a total cost of £46.00 for 4 main meals, it was disheartening to not receive some form of compensation.
Whenever we’ve had issues previously, venues have never hesitated to offer complementary drinks/desserts or a 10% discount on the total bill thus encouraging us to return due to good customer service.
Sadly this visit marks the last time we will be...

To drink we ordered a pot of tea for my wife, and I asked for a pint of John Smiths. My wifes drink and the bread arrived but my drink didn't materialise. I like a drink before and during my meal to unwind and as an aid to digestion. I enquired about my drink twice and was told several times that the barrel was being changed. This took at lot longer than previous experiences of this type in pubs, bars, restaurants etc. Unfortunately, our food arrived before this situation was resolved. I couldn't imagine trying to eat such a big meal without a drink and I didn't want to sit there staring at it whist I continued to wait and whilst my wife tucked into her meal. We both felt that our visit to Whitbys was marred and so we sent the food back to the kitchen and told the staff that we were leaving. I don't understand why things like barrels etc couldn't have been checked before the restaurant was opened or why a bar towel wasn't placed over the pump. In that case I would have ordered an alternative drink... or why our foood wasn't held back until we both had our drinks. We were looking forward to our visit to Whitbys but it was a big...
