Birds Bakery — Restaurant in Rushcliffe

Birds used to be such a happy place - wonderful bread and cakes, and the morning smell of bacon and pork for cobs. The staff were always friendly and helpful (which they still are) but now I would classify their attitude as disappointed and ashamed of the company they work for. No longer the decency of a proper cup, saucer and plate with a delicious toasted tea cake and excellent quality butter. It's now cardboard cups, no more toasted teacakes on offer, certainly no butter. Any baked goods (and the range is notably reduced) for consumption in the cafe area come in paper bags - PAPER BAGS?? The management of Birds has miscalculated badly on changing its image: It may be saving money with all these changes, but it has lost the pride and devotion of its employees and the loyalty of its customers. Cannot reccomend this place highly enough. Went here last weekend to grab a bacon cob and a coffee. I stood outside to eat my cob, and put my coffee on the table. Unfortunately a gust of wind blew my coffee over before I had even taken a sip. I went inside to grab something to clean the table up and order a new coffee, but when I explained what happened they just made me a new coffee for free. It wasn't their fault so they didn't have to do that. All the staff were really friendly and chatty. That's how you do customer service! The one on the Avenue in Bridgford is really good too. There was no hygiene measures in place The roll I ordered was on a unclean surface when asked as the colleague next to her had a sheet underneath there was no reply Told them to put less sauce in and it was covered or in better words flooded It was a mess when I got into my car had to bin it.
