Gilt - Bingham — Restaurant in Rushcliffe

We had a table booked for 3 for 8pm this evening, a Thursday night. Outside was fairly busy, but we had booked for inside which was less so. The manager arrived with menus and took our order quickly. The food arrived promptly and was delicious. However, following some time after our plates being cleared, the waitress arrived to ask if we wanted drinks as the bar was shutting , it was about 9.30. No one had checked back to see if our food was ok or offered a dessert menu.To which I commented were they rushing to go home as we had not been offered a dessert menu yet. My friend asked for a pot of tea and I asked for a dessert menu to which the waitress replied the kitchen is closing, I'll check. She came back to say we could have a dessert, did we want one. We hastily ordered a cheese board to share, 2 coffees and a pot of tea. When it arrived the waitress then put the bill on the table too, hovering with the card machine. One of the party split the bill cost for her as she didn't really know how to split it 3 ways. I commented again about being rushed as it felt like we were stopping them mop the floor around us .There was still a large table inside adjacent to us. We paid the bill and started on our dessert all whilst the team was stacking chairs in the bar. At just past 10 o'clock the manager came past and said thank you ladies time to leave or something similar, and the same to the larger table. As we walked out the same manager was stacking chairs to the side of the deck outside with customers still at tables. It was 10.05PM. They close at 11pm according to the website. I have eaten here twice before for lunch and had coffee in a morning there too, all very pleasurable with great service. However tonight was not such a great experience. I had recommended Copper to my friends and felt rather embarrassed that we were being rushed along and ushered to leave. We were never offered dessert or coffee just told if we wanted another drin,k the bar was shutting. We felt the service was poor tonight and did not reflect the usual experience. Not sure if they were short staffed or just wanting to get home early but felt disappointed...

This is an update today the twelfth of March 2023, of my review below, we revisited yesterday after the Area Manager apologised and invited us back, what a difference, everything was spot on, they wanted to show us how it would normally be done, I think they must of had a few staff issues on our first visit, but this has, without doubt, been resolved, I would certainly recommend them, hence me updating to five stars. …….

Awful experience, poor food, poor service, I’m amazed that people have given good reviews, the staff couldn’t care less, not once did they ask if everything was ok, I specifically asked for my bacon to be crispy, it was the opposite and not once did they come back to ask if we wanted another drink, infact after delivery of the food we never saw an assistant again, even the bill was wrong, they had added another £6! We paid and they didn’t come back with our change, absolutely disgusted, an update, the area manager contacted me yesterday with regards to our experience, he was shocked and very concerned, he could not have been more apologetic and has offered us a free meal and drinks, restored my faith in Gilt, hope next visit it will be good, will be sure to update once we...

Having moved to the area only last week and having been a regular at the excellent Mapperley Copper we thought we would have our first family meal out at Copper Bingham. Having booked a table inside we was sat next to the main entrance next to the hand sanitizer despite lots of other tables free inside but thought they must be booked so didn’t make a fuss. My son and myself ordered the sirloin steaks medium rare and my wife the duck salad with my daughter ordering the vegetable holoumi. Our drinks came quite quickly and the service was polite and very efficient. Unfortunately the steaks was not very good and appeared to have been de-frosted in their colour and taste? My wife’s duck was ok as was my daughters which was a relief. We did inform the waiter and the manageress was excellent and deducted us 30%. I hope it’s a one off as the place is very well situated with a great decor and excellent staff but they need to up the game on the fresh food side.? We will be back but thought it needed saying as This place should be the place to go in...
