I haven't been to any of the popular fast food restaurants for about 20 years because my kids are all grown up and traditional cafes are more my thing. I had to take my van for a service nearby so I thought i'd pop in and have a breakfast mcmuffin meal, I knew this still existed from the constant bombardment of television and radio advertising,🎶 do, do, do, do dooo🎶 I walked into the restaurant at about 8.45, a few diners were about but there were lots of tables free to dine. I decided to experience the self service machine rather than the traditional over the counter order. This machine was really easy to navigate and I found the mcmuffin with egg and sausage, then came would you like a hash brown, I accepted, then would you like to make it a meal? I accepted and chose tea, went large coz I'm fat anyway so it's not going to make a difference to my lifespan, I then chose pay and up come my meal on the screen, it looked huge!!! Clearly see a muffin, sausage burger and egg mmmmm yummy!! I was asked to take a number plate to my table and wait, I agreed and paid, awesome!!!! experience, very easy for a old geezer like me. I chose a window seat because I'm nosey, then realized the bottom section was frosted out so I couldn't be nosey anyway, within 5 mins my meal was brought to me by someone who was obviously just out of charm school, placing the tray at the other end of the table and snatching back his number plate, he was middle aged, expressionless and didn't have the ability to talk, despite me smiling and saying thank you. Hey ho! There's nothing like job satisfaction and this was nothing like it. Eagerly I slid the tray in my direction and opened the paper bag at the bottom was my breakfast my 1st McDonald's in about 20 years.... Couldn't contain my excitement!!! I unwrapped my muffin and took a look at it, nothing like the photo on the self service machine it was half the size and as limp as a 6 week old lettuce. I picked it up took a small bite and it was like eating cardboard, the muffin had flavour and was very nicely toasted, to be fair, the egg was so dry and over cooked, It was like eating my working boots, the sausage burger was bland and like paper mache, I picked up my hash brown and took a bite the oil was dripping off it but it was tasty and cooked well, so I promptly lifted the top off the muffin, added the hash brown and replaced the top, it was more like the height in the photo now, I drink tea black, no sugar, so no need for the prepacked in plastic milk sachet (naughty Mr McDonald, this could get into our eco system and effect our sea life) or prepacked sugar paper sachet (that's better) the tea was perfect, well I did have to remove the bag at my choice of strength of course. I did use the mens loo, which was immaculately clean, well stocked with loo roll and soap, the restaurant floor and tables were promptly cleaned after use, although I visited at a quiet time, maybe a busy time maybe different, I'll never know because I'm going to a cafe next time. My overall opinion for people who know their British history is... The McDonalds are getting their own back on the Campbell's... Those who don't know their British history... It was a dreadful meal, rude staff who can't cook but can clean perfectly well. God knows how this still draws millions of customers, when there's proper cafes cooking beautiful food struggling to...
Read moreUpdate May 2022: I am pleased to say that in the three years since my original review the restaurant has improved massively. The staff are now very friendly and the whole operation appears to be much more efficient. The drive through (which is often long at peak times) moves quickly and when pulling up to the collection window it is evident that there is a whole team of people working hard to fulfil orders. This is such a refreshing change to see such a big improvement, and it is a credit to the staff and the management involved there. Also of note is that Instavolt rapid chargers are being installed currently - always good to know that your car can get a top up while you get one inside!
Original review, 2019: This was an excellent McDonalds when it first opened - modern, clean and good service. We have noticed over the past three or so months a reduction in the quality of service and availability of certain items. It is now uncommon to get any of the sauces that you request when going through the drive through (e.g. The mozzarella dippers never seem to come with the salsa despite specifically asking every time). They rarely have the milkshake flavours that we want (especially chocolate) - including when we visited at midday before the lunch rush - and seem to frequently have no milkshakes at all. I don't think they've actually had the chocolate milkshake flavour for the past two or three months when we ordered it. There seem to be frequent issues with the drive through staff and the accuracy of the orders they take. The last time we visited the drive through, I had to tell the person at the collection window four or five times what our order was as he couldn't work it out, and also he kept asking me to pay more money (we had paid correctly for our order in full)! This ought to be a good restaurant, but it seems that the staff are in need of some additional training and much better management. It's a shame to see such a new place go downhill so fast, and I hope that they...
Read moreI recently had a disappointing experience at this drive-thru that I feel compelled to share. After my son's football training, my family and I decided to grab a quick bite after 8 PM last night. Unfortunately, what should have been a simple outing turned into a frustrating ordeal.
First off, I requested some salt for our fries, as they often come without it. The staff's response was surprisingly rude, which set a negative tone right from the start. To make matters worse, I ended up waiting over 10 minutes at the next window, which felt excessive, especially since I could see our food was ready.
When I finally inquired about our order, it seemed like they were holding it back on purpose. When we received our food, the fries were cold and soggy, which was really disappointing. The staff's demeanor didn’t help either; they gave me a look that made me feel unwelcome, as if I was a bother for simply asking for what I ordered.
Overall, this experience highlighted extremely poor customer service. I hope management takes note of these issues, as a little kindness and efficiency can go a long way in making customers feel valued. I really wanted to enjoy our meal, but this visit left a sour taste in my mouth. I hope future visits...
