It's been a very long time since we were last here. Not going this way very often had made me forget all about it until today. Driving past it, reminded me to give it a visit and I am really pleased that we did. They have done a great job in refurbishing the room, especially the booth seats and the rather unusual wall paper panels. These and a plush carpet make it a lot smarter than I remember. Indeed it's a lot smarter than most restaurants. Still unlicensed but I noticed some others cheekily taking in their own soft drinks. From opening the door for us as we entered and left, the service was excellent, friendly and attentive without being obtrusive, Kaz and Mo doing a great job. Although very busy nothing was too much trouble. I couldn't fault my food either, the only thing that could have been better would have been the chips but I say that a lot. Despite this, my garlic chilli bahar was exceptional and the wife really enjoyed her balti. There was a good atmosphere on the night, very relaxed despite the fact it was full with a few large tables. This would obviously vary from day to day. The unobtrusive music was also appreciated. The bill was very reasonable for what we had, which is softened by being able to take our own alcohol. I also like their clear itemised bills. It won't be very long until we are back.
Edit, which we have been and it's pretty much consistent. Given it's popularity, unsurprisingly there will be a bit of a wait on a busy Saturday night but that's not a...

Edit 23.10.23 - I gave the above review and 5 stars 3 years ago (thats how long I have been using them) and Major Curry Affair has been my go to curry house during this time. However, over the last 2 x weeks I have gone to dine in and ordered takeaway and have recently started to feel disappointed. The currys have become lacking in meat, both my takeaway and dine in had next to no meat. I had 4 x VERY small pieces of lamb with my dine in and there was a lump of fat rather than lamb also. My takeaway was the same 4 or 5 tiny pieces of chicken. During my recent dine in, I found the waiter abrupt and rushed, he asked my friend what he wanted then moved onto me, without letting him finish, my friend had only ordered curry and still needed to order rice, nann etc... waiter reached over me from behind to place food, rather than go to the end of the table and I found this uncomfortable. As we had a small table, there wasn't enough room for everything and very cramped. It's a shame, but due to the disappearing meat and drop in standards service wise, I will be trying elsewhere. The prices have gone up over the years by quite a bit, so I can't see why they are needing to cut back on meat and meat sizes...
Read moreWe had booked a table for two an hour before arriving. Got to the restaurant and he checked the diary, no booking. Requested a table for two and sat down. Waited 10 mins and the waiter had still not been over. The restaurant was not even busy a couple at One table that was it. Requested some bottled water which was 2-50 for a very small bottle and for him to open the wine. Corkscrew plonked on the table, water served in a small bottle without ice in the glass. Waited another 10 mins a customer who had walked in five mins after us, seemed to get alot more attention than us. Eventually he came over and requested our orders on a tablet. He asked me several times to repeat my order and asked my friend to place his order. He then stopped him rudely and requested I went through my order again, not rocket science. At this point I walked out of the restaurant and explained to the waiter how rude he was. Never again went to a another restaurant called boojan. what a difference service was fantastic and food tasty. Avoid the afforementioned restaurant at all costs. Service is rude even if the restaurant looks nice for the area 're tipton, go to boojan in dudley port so much better. How many owners does a restaurant have and I still have not...
