Simla Spice — Restaurant in Sandwell

This restaurant may not be a suitable place to visit if you are a decent and fair minded individual. A University lecturer and her two children made a reservations and visited this restaurant last Sunday. Her husband had planned to join them once the order had been placed. Unfortunately, the waiters did not wish to serve this University Lecturer and when another Asian customer drew their attention to the fact that she had been waiting a long time and that they had served other customers who had arrived after she had, they overtly crossed their arms and made no attempt to serve her. Her young children began to cry because they were hungry and she had to put their coats on and leave the restaurant because the waiters were obviously ignoring her. In fact another Asian customer indicated that the waiters were not serving her because she was black.Can you imagine how humiliating it would have been for her sitting there and seeing other people being served , watching other customers intervening on her behalf so that she could be treated fairly and then have to leave the restaurant because the waiters did not wish to condescend to serve her. It was unfortunate that these waiters treated her in that way because she is a really kind individual who actively advocates the importance of kindness to people of all ethnic backgrounds. A chance meal here did not disappoint! I was a little hesitant as the location isn’t super (although it has on site parking), but I had a really delicious evening. The chilli nan was the best I’ve had (I’ve had a lot of them!), light and fluffy with great flavour. The menu was well put together with some different and interesting dishes. The saag rice was wonderfully light and tasty. The chilli in the spicer curry (Rajaistani Balti) was well balanced with the flavor of the dish which was a real delight and it wasn’t oily at all. Cobra beer on draft is always a bonus and at a good price. It was very quiet for a Thursday night which meant the atmosphere struggled a bit, but I couldn’t understand why as the food and service was great. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I would give this 0 stars if I could. I walked up to the restaurant to book a table for the weekend. A man who worked in the restaurant came out of the door before I got close and hawked up and spat on the floor outside the front of the restaurant. When I accosted him about it he told me to “fk off you white b*d!”
