This was my second time visiting this restaurant. I was hoping that it would be a better experience than the first. I was wrong. We entered an empty restaurant with a pre booked reservation. The staff had zero knowledge of this and spent about 5 minutes trying to work out where to seat us. In an empty restaurant! The server was inappropriately dressed and incompetent. We were asked for our drinks order by 2 different waitresses which tells me that there is no communication between the staff. The starter came quickly and my mussels were bland and tasteless. My partners boozy prawns were bland and not boozy and had about 3 prawns in a jam jar. The coke I asked for was watered down and my partners amaretto and coke was disgusting. My partner had the mussels as her main and they were again bland and tasteless. My main was the chicken and haggis. The chicken and haggis was over cooked. The potato “ rosti “ was unseasoned and pointless. The asparagus hadn’t been washed and had grit in it and the sauce was clearly beef bisto with a chicken dish. . 9 waiting staff walked past our empty plates before I had to move our plates to the edge of the table to try and spur up some level of service. And the cost of the meal was to be honest laughable All the while patrons of the bar are walking through with drinks and loud attitudes to go outside to the smoking area through the restaurant. All of this after the waiter informed me on entering that they were quiet and so it should be a good...
Read moreSituated on Dumbarton Rd, 50 yards from Byres Rd turnoff. Good venue for any size groups. They have the venue broken down into two sections... Bar seating and restaurant seating. Restaurant seating is verh modern and relaxed situated in the front of the venue. The bar seating area is in a seperate area and is technically bigger. They play live sports and live music occasionally. The vibe is electric when Scotland is playing in national colours. Generally any other top level event gathers a brilliant atmosphere too. The waiters float around and get your orders and the socializing doesn't stop. The food is fresh and the kitchen has a quick turn around but don't expect miracles.. if you ordered something unique please allow them some time to prepare your request. They do delivery through various online platforms. I have ordered take out and there was no difference in quality for stake out and sit in. I always take a veggie option but go for meat if you want. If you are a solo traveller it is a good place to meet new people or to people watch with a cup of coffee after lunch at the window overlooking Dumbarton Road. A few minutes walk from Kelvin Bridge Subway. If driving quickest route to this part of Dumbarton Rd is: take the B808 turnoff from Clyde Side Express passing the back of Partick Station and Turn left onto Dumbarton Road. Please like my review if it...
Read moreWas actually going to give this place a higher rating from my initial visit even though I thought it a bit pricey but took that on the chin as it is a late night bar in partick. That said I did not expect to bourbons off the back bar to cost me in excess of £18 which was not highlighted to me by the staff before purchase. Normally on high ticket items you expect to be asked if you are sure you want to spend that sort of money.
The reason for the one star is that after checking out the drink in question online I was shocked to find that this was a bottle that could be bought for just over 30 quid. This made my blood boil. Clearly the management here are out to fleece honest customers with these sorts of mark ups. I did try and call the place to ask the next day but the number continuously rang out. I gave up in the end.
I shall not be back and I highly recommend that you do not visit here and do not get pulled I to the same trickery as I have been fooled with.
I also suggest you might want to display your spirit prices something I did not see available. I always thought that was a legal requirement. But...
